Yes, you indeed have to advertise. But just posting on forums doesn't really contribute to plays as much as other methods (I know from experience)  

You could try posting levels on Youtube. Some people offer to record your levels for you if you cannot afford fancy recording devices. It's a real shame though, there are so many deserving creators out there that don't get the plays expected. Some even deserve MM Picks, but are invisible and helpless. Most people even quit. The world misses another opportunity to discover a dexterous creator. You did post this quite a long while ago, though. By now the level that you mentioned probably has more plays.

To be honest, I think the levels that go on the cool pages are completely picked at random. And I can justify my point. On the cool pages you have good levels, bad levels, rushed levels, levels that have nothing in them, Mm pick-worthy levels etc. I'm not quite sure the "republish your level every 5 mins trick" works in LBP2 anymore but I think that some recently published levels are put on the cool pages to hopefully kick start the plays, hearts, good comments and what-have-you.

And as other people have mentioned, advertising your level can help but don't act too desperate when you do it.

Ok so I worked for days on this and I really think it deserves a spot on the cool pages. Every play, smiley, heart, or review inspires me to continue working. My level is my own version of the Boom Sackshot level seen in the beta. Thanks so much for the plays

hi to get to the cool pages your lvl will have to have at least 800 plays so the easy way to get the 800 plays is to post comments on good lvls by the way visit my levels

I know how everybody feels. I have published over 20 levels in LBP and LBP2 with around 150 total plays. A couple of levels are well over a year old to boot! I have only one level with more than 50 plays. I know the levels aren't all that bad.  I am not really interested in making the Cool Pages, I really just want to see more people play them. I take great time and effort to make them and am very, very discouraged that they don't get played. I am beginning to feel like I am wasting a lot of time on them. Please try my level 'Dem' Flamin Zombies'. Its a zombie survival with a story behind it. Its 4 chapters, but the chapters serve as checkpoints. And I think its hard bcuz out of like 7 people that played it, only 2 made it to the end. So if you die a couple of times please don't give up. :] And i guess you could look at my music levels if you want..
