Welcome to last ever Contraption Challenge...... in LittleBigPlanet 1. Don't worry, they'll be back with LBP2
.
For this challenge you need to make a contraption that has one simple goal - exterminate all Sackpeople! Lets face it, being slapped all day gets annoying. They need teaching a lesson!
Your contraption could be anything from a machine that chases Sackboy, destroying everything in its path, to an evil spaghetti-monster with multiple attack phases. Think of it as being a boss or an enemy but without the need for you to fight back. The crazier and more original your idea, the better!
To take part, create your Exterminator and put it in a short level to show it off. Publish it before midnight on the 23rd November, using the prefix 'CC12' in the level title so that we can find it! The judges will shortlist the entries down to our favourites based on how awesome they look, how unique the idea is and how well they work, and a video will be made on our YouTube channel showing them off for the world to see. You'll be able to vote for the one you like the best, and to celebrate this being the last LBP1 challenge the winner will receive a Rare Prize Crown and a 46" BRAVIA TV! On top of that, one runner up will win a digital copy of LittleBigPlanet on PSP.
Big news for entrants living in the Republic of Ireland (with an Irish PSN account)! Courtesy of SCE Ireland, the top ten Irish entrants into LBP CC12 as identified by the CC judges, will be invited to join a separate competition in which they’ll be asked to create an Irish themed level! If one of the lucky ten, you’ll be invited to a live event in Dublin in January 2011 hosted by SCE Ireland and Media Molecule. At this event the best Irish themed level will be judged and announced by a representative from the Media Molecule team. With a whole host of other goodies on offer at the event and a chance to meet some of the team behind LittleBigPlanet, you really don't want to miss this one.
Does the Exterminator need to kill Sackboy?
No, but it should be ABLE to kill him. It'll probably be more fun to play if you make it easy to avoid being killed, so that we have time to admire the contraption without dying every 2 seconds!
Yay! I've always wanted to brutally murder innocent Sackpeople.
Good for you, but remember that LBP is a game for everyone, so don't make anything with blood, guts or any gore in general. Keep it family friendly!
Can the Exterminator be controlled by the player?
No, it should be automatic.
What does the level need to include?
An entry area, your Exterminator, and a way for the player to end the level when they've had enough!
We will only judge your contraption, however we like levels with nice visuals, a background, some music and maybe a bit of a story. Remember to give the level a description and icon when you publish!
How long does the level need to be?
Not too long! If you're adding a story line be sure to allow the player to skip straight to the contraption.
Where can I get some inspiration?
There's an example level, 'CC12 - Example' by Nuclearfish, which shows the sort of thing you need to make, and you can also do a level search for 'CC12' to see what others have created. And why not check out www.youtube.com/lbpcontraptions to see our favourite entries to the previous challenges?
How many contraptions can I make?
There's a limit of 3 levels per creator. Make sure you publish each contraption in a seperate level!
Can I edit my level after I've published it?
Yes, feel free to change it as much as you want before the deadline!
Good luck!
