This thread is discuss ideas for a big monthly community competition, which will start in November. I will be happy to run this, but I want everyone's input, opinions and ideas so that together we can come up with the best competition possible! I'll be away until Thursday evening, so I'll read everything you all have to say when I get back.
Please note that this is separate to Acta's Level of the Week idea.
Anyway, here's the concept:
The Create Phase
On the first day of each month a new thread will be posted giving a 'keyword'. An example of a word might be 'Space'. Everyone has 2-3 weeks to create something in LBP which represents this word. It can be a full complex level, a mini-game, a boss fight, a vehicle challenge, absolutely anything.
After about a week, the levels have to be published before the deadline (about the 20th of each month, and all of them should have the same prefix (e.g.. OPC1 for Official PlayStation Community, month 1). Once someone publishes their level they need to give the level name and the creator name in the thread.
The Play Phase
After the create deadline, a new thread will be posted with a list of all the levels made during the Create Phase. The community is encouraged to try out all of these levels and play them. They can then nominate their favourite level/s in the thread.
The top 5 nominated levels will then be put in a poll (I'm sure MusterBuster will kindly do this for us) and everyone will be able to vote for their favourite. The winner will receive.... something (that's still to be decided, but I think it needs to be something more than a badge to go in a sig).
Then the next month the whole thing happens again with a different keyword.
Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

As I said in acta's post, this is definatly the way to go!
Nice idea and it would help people who can't decide on a
theme to just get on with it and build a level
I know I'd
definatly take part.

I imagine the prefix will make it alot easier to search for the levels, as hopefully OPC1 will bring up all the levels created.
That would make sense.
I think the trophy (you can give away items and make them unshareable) needs to be something that looks the part.
also how can you give this prize to the winner? is it possible to send items to particular users?

Yeah, that's the idea. It'll also mean when we come across one we know it's for the competition, because it's very likely a few levels will have the same name, so we need to distinguish between our levels and random ones.

Good idea.

Great idea. I'll definitely have a crack at this.
Another idea on how people can see all the levels is to create a "bot user account" and have it heart all the levels in the contest and then people can search for that user and go to it's hearted levels.
Also when picking the 5 we could see which of the levels were hearted the most, but that would obviously include votes from outside the community so might not be the best idea.
