R.I.P. PSN, Long Live SEN

http://www.egmnow.com/articles/playstation_3/r-i-p-psn-long-live-sen/

February eighth (four days from now) PSN will be renamed SEN or Sony Entertainment Network.

Playstaion Network has been around since the PS2, though not as many people used it as Sony would have liked. I liked the name PSN. It was simple, and people knew that you were using a Playstaion gaming console.
Now I fear you will need to explain weather you are using a gaming console (PS3, Vita, PSP) or another Sony Product (Vaio, Bravia, XperiaPLAY, ect).

According to the Link up there, this change is in name only, and everything else will work exactly the same(for now anyway).

Click above for the full/paraphrased story.

IDK about you, But I'll still be calling it PSN.

Idk, For us, the consumers, this change is bad. We have been either SEN or PSN. One was different than the other on purpose, it kept us from merging into one huge group, showing our superiority over XBL / G4W / STEAM(which I also use).

But now there will be at least twice as many of us trolling around.

Good for Sony business wise though.

Its just a change of name. Don't think it will be bad for us in anyway.

But why the change of name? PSN sounds fine with me and being a fan of Final fantasy 13 which includes a  role called Senitel which shortend is SEN so now Il feel like im on a Senitel network.

As I understand it the PlayStation Network itself isn't being renamed, just the accounts we used to access it. Instead of having a "PSN account" we'll have "SEN accounts" which we can use to access the PlayStation Network. Similar to how things work on the Xbox: You use your "Live account" (which is used for Hotmail, Messenger, etc) to access "Xbox Live" (specific to the games console). The games service is still called "Xbox Live" but your account is your "Live account".

It's not really a major change.

They sent out an e-mail about it last night, which just says that they are re-naming it, and sort of says why. Something about creating an all-inclusive single service, I think.
