I personally think its random idiots who report stuff thats perfectly ok to get the level removed. Eg its too hard so they report it. And i dont think Mm check the level before they moderate it. Which is wrong.

simliar thing happened to me. my level got removed for no apparant reason at all, noone told me anything about why, i cant republish it, it had absolutely no influences from copyrighted products at all.
the level was quite short, and went like: sackboy climbs a tree, takes a elevator to the foot of a mountain, travel through the mountain, gets on a lift and goes to find a christmas tree, eventually he meets up with santa and gets handed christmas gifts. end of level.
no rudeness, no gore, no violence.
im puzzled and frankly quite upset with this whole ordeal. especially since i was only 2 hearts as a creator from getting the create trophy. and that level had maybe 30 hearts.
so incidentally i went and made a short level just a entry and an exit and did the whole heart 4 heart thing. not very proud of it but the trophy would have been mine...
as i said, ***** of about this so im not really in the mood of playing more littlebigplanet, i had plowed several hours inte creating the level.
at least tell me why?

I believe I have an answer to this....
When people "Good grief" a level, it instantly gets removed and placed into a "pending investigation" queue. This is so that if there IS offensive content, then other people don't get offended.
The moderators then play through the level and check as the WHY it was griefed. If the moderator plays it and agrees with the grief, then it is removed permanently.
If, however, the moderator plays it and thinks "why, this is perfectly fine!", then the level is re-uploaded and all is good with the world.
Recent moderations of The Azure Palace and the awesome World Of Colour caused uproar recently, and they're both back up, as I played them myself this evening. God I love WoC.
Anyways, I believe that's how the moderation system works, and there's 2 things wrong with it.
1. You are not told this via email, PSN message, in-game, anything.
2. Media Molecule and Sony have not publicly shouted this from the rooftops so that everyone understands it.
If more people knew this, I believe that the people screaming "zomg y iz mah lvl gon? lolol *****" would actually understand and stop making these threads.
Of course, if I'm wrong, then the system totally sucks.

to add to what blokeh said.
if someone reports a level and there's nothing wrong, they should get punished i.e. don't let them grief levels, play lbp online or even remove a level they have created!!
