How the bloody hell, do u make a door?

Cheers for reading.

I know ive given some advice to some people, hope someone gives some to me, without another link to youtube videos.

How do you make a door, that goes up when u walk towards it, and down as you walk away from it.

ive had a lot of advice to use the proximty trigger, but i am a damm NOOB!

as an exaomple, can someone either post there option and wat they have done, coz so many explanations on an old body aint good for me!

just a simple thing is causing so much frustration.

antoher thing i got is, to have to door fully opened for ever.... that i swear is imposible.  i just make stone sit on dissolve material then as the floor disolves, the stone "door" falls and makes a floor in the gap,,, looks crappy, ide like to do something kool.

anyone have any tips.  PLEASE post them!

To make a door open when you approach and close when you go away just use a motion sensor switch (proximity switch) and set it to 'on/off' attached to the piston? that works.

If you want a door to close and stay closed then put a big block of dark matter out of site and hollow it out so it's a box, put a piece of dissolve across the middle (horizontally) and two little circles of any material in the gaps (one on each side). Put a magnet key on one little circle and a switch on the other, set the switch to 'directional' so that it's open when not activated. Attatch an 'on/off' switch to the dissolve in the middle (this on/off switch effectively closes the door) so when the dissolve dissolves the magnetic key goes into the switches trigger radius which then put the door down. This is permanent!

Hope that is what you wanted

Re: How the bloody hell, do u make a door?

The other poster was nearly there, but what he created was a door that goes up and down repeatedly if you're close to it.

Create your door, and above it, place a small square of dark matter. Connect the door to the dark matter with a piston or winch (your choice). Change the settings of the piston or winch so that the door moves up enough, and moves down to meet the ground (blocking the path).

Now, place a proximity switch near the doorway (not on the door) and set the switch to "DIRECTION". Connect it to the piston/winch.

Now, if you walk near the sensor, the door should open. Move away and it should close. If it does the opposite, set the switch to reversed.

To open the door forever, create a permanent state switch. There are many kinds of ways of doing it, but the prefered way is to create a magnetic switch controlling direction, and connect it to the piston/winch. The door should either open or close. If it closes, reverse the switch.

Now, create a block of dissolve material with a magnetic key on, and place it so that it will activate the magnetic switch. Place the switch that will trigger the door opening, controlling "on/off", and connect it to the dissolve.

When you activate the switch, the dissolve will dissolve, changing the state of the switch, and opening the door. Since the switch was changed via the dissolving, it wont change back.

he could create a 1 shot switch. only works once

You can't save time only spend it.

One shot switches don't worth with pistons unless they're set to either "In" or "Out", neither being appropriate for this door.

However a one-shot switch does have a use for doors, when you need a door that will open fully when you press a button, and then it slowly closes, giving you time to run underneath before it does.
