I used to love LittleBigPlanet. I haven't played in about 2 months so I decided to go on earlier this evening. To my shock, the communinty has turned upside down! The community pages are all filled with levels asking for people to heart them, people giving away free "fake" costumes, abusive levels (one was 8 ways to kill justin bieber) (also not a bieber fan here tho ) and just plain stupid levels that aren't levels. I struggled to find 2 actual levels with proper LBP gameplay, which really makes me sad. I now have second thoughts on getting the second, because it could turn out the same and just become a playground for people wanting hearts and 5 star ratings on their levels that only give you custom-made costumes. No-one wants a game like this as it's pure junk when people make it this. I fear Media Molecule will lose alot of money if more people like me see what has become of their once, great game, now pretty sad when it comes to an "online friendly community".

from what i've experienced in the lbp 2 beta you have nothing to worry about, they have dropped the star rating to make way for a new rating system (similar to the like/dislike of youtube), and there is no trophy for hearts (there is a trophy for 50 "likes" on a SINGLE level though).
also the addition of lbp.me will make it easier to find good levels and queue them up for next time you go online.
also the way levels get to the cool pages in lbp 2 has changed, it's now based on a "likes" vs "dislikes" vs "number of plays" system
you should also keep in mind that alot of lbps regular creators have been testing the lbp2 beta for the last month or 2 so that could have contributed to lbps current state

The fake dlc costumes are we need look at the ratings before playing a level because people are still complaining about fake costumes:from Randall Hopkins.

I dont tend to bother with the costume levels anyway, if MM wanted you to be able to get the real costumes for free then they would give them away. And dont worry Toddster, evret is right, it is way easier to see which levels are actually any good in LBP2, the cool levels page actually has some awe inspiring levels on it and from what ive seen, they are only getting better as people start stretching the boundaries....................

Well everything seems to be ok in LBP2 now. Everybody's making decent lvls, but that H4H copyable Trophys lvl with the spongebob icon is being republished lots on LBP1. But at least things have improved

*Sigh It's a pity... Well, what I mean is.. Well, yeah I mean sure it P-ed me off in LBP1 but the thing is now the cool pages are starting to clear up 1. LBP was an English game and had a more special unique feel.. And now it just after the clear up of levels it's starting to feel more cheap, plastic and americanized (sorry if this offends anyone)-- and 2. I feel I get bored easier, because back in the days of '08 - '09, good creating styles were a rare thing, and when found was a real treat to play... Now everyone can do it, it just feels well.. boring. e.g. eating 3 bags of awsome sweets you love the most every day can lead to becoming tired of those sweets eventually.. ); I miss the good old days of LBP... Now it's just tacky..

The only problem I have with LBP2 is I can never join online players as it always times out

yeh i have pretty much given up on it. it wasent different enough from lbp1 to hold my attention. i spent alot of time on lbp1. i liked the new tools in 2 but they could have easily been a DLC

True, basically all of the stuff available in LBP2 could have been implemented like the Paintinator, but i like LBP2, ill be honest and say that i dont play it as much now, and i havnt actually published a single level since i started playing it I just dont have the time to sit down and create something good, and i dont want to be one of those people that publishes crap just for the sake of it. I was working on something that was different from everything else that was out there, but someone that obviously had more time than me published something very similar before i was even a 1/4 of the way through building it so there is no point finishing it now
