I think its fine if we unlock slots but gods sake not at max level, it would be better around level 40 or something just as Im about to get bored with my character.
If there's one thing I've learned from playing mmos, its that I dont wanna have to work for my video game, I wanna play it and have fun, if I have to play 10 hours to unlock the `real game` I´ll be better off tossing it in the garbage.

Right this is what ive managed to find out.
1. pick a faction ie say valor work your way up to lvl 60
2.at this point can apply for vetern (info not known
3. you can now go to ways stay as you are or start again in new faction ie say sever and start again(from scratch)
But heres the thing at some time in your career other factions are going to try and poach you over to them with treats (unknown). SO the decision will be yours do you stay loyal or defect.
This could all change but as of right now as far as we know this is the idea.

I'd still like to find this out myself.
From looking at the trophies it seems that you are supposed to play as each faction (as maxing out each of them gives you 3 gold trophies) and it would be a shame to have to dump hours of work in order to start again.
We'll find out next week.

I would really expect to be able to have the 3 factions on 3 different profiles else that's just mean lol.
My guess is that it was just for the Beta and to help even the load out evenly to minimize people switching all the time.
My thoughts exactly.. Aren't we supposed to pick a side and stick with it? As it is, it'll be hard enough for people who are really keen on Valor, or SVER or Raven, to bite the bullet and spend all the required time levelling up secondary characters up to 60 on the other two factions, just to have a shot at that platinum..
Mind you, it's tricky.. You'll still end up spending more time with one character, as you'll need to rack up all ribbons (for a few trophies, more than one) and all medals, and while a couple of those (as with most trophies) it's just a matter of playing the game and sooner or later they'll unlock (say, the streaker medal, etc), a couple of others will force you to specifically work for it.. For example, all the weapon type medals -- you'll need to respec to another category once you hit 1000 kills with your current weapon. Add to this the sniper medals and ribbons, the bunker turret and rocket ribbons and a few others (like amassing on the same char 100 bunkers destroyed, 100 bunkers repaired, etc, etc, etc) and we're talking a serious time commitment.
In this regard, I guess it'd make more sense to them to just give you the one char and allow you to change factions whenever you respec -- a Dev's recent interview hinted at that option. But unless they also give you the option to start from Lv. 1 again (and back to 1 skill point) once you hit Lv.60, it wouldn't work for those gold trophies.
Right now, I see only five options:
1 - reaching Lv.60 allows a player to start again from Lv.1 and change factions (so you'd need to do this 3 times to get all related gold trophies, allowing you to come full circle on the last one and swap sides for good for your true chosen allegiance)
2 - chars don't ever reset levels, but once you reach Lv. 60 you get to create and use a secondary char (and use that one to get 60 on another PMC, giving you a 3rd char)
3 - chars don't ever reset levels and you'll need to delete your char once you hit 60 to start over with another PMC
4 - we get multiple chars right off the bat (and end up commiting and sticking mostly with one of them -- the one we'll work on getting all ribbons and medals)
5 - a hybrid mix of the above
The worst one is 3, of course.. That'd be the "Zipper's got to be kidding me" option. I seriously doubt this is how it'll work -- and if it turns out that it is, then prepare to hound them until they come up with another solution.
The most balanced would be #4.. You choose what you want to do at any time. #5 depends on what kind of mix we have. #1 is slightly less retarded than #3 but still means giving up on all the hard work just so you can try to go for those gold trophies.. It's too harsh of a penalty -- the only good thing about it is, you'd always be working and (hopefully) improving the stats of the same character. Meaning, starting over with another faction would still help towards getting all those medals and ribbons required. #2 is a good compromise, I guess, but of them all, I still prefer #4.
I hope Zipper keeps in mind that the biggest fun in MAG is playing with the same regular people. And what better way to do that then setting up a clan? Now, it might be easy for a small group of 4 or 5 people to decide at the same time to switch to another faction, but what about a clan with 30 people? Is it even remotely feasible for everyone to wait till the last one gets Lv.60 so that they can then all switch sides?
