MAG: DO's and Don'ts

Ok it's been out for a while, so for ppl who have been playing this game, what words of wisdom would u pass on to new players.

 

Mine are:

  1. if your defending, attack the attackers push them back dont let them push u
  2. threes more than one way to get your target, so get to know the maps in and out. In domination if your letter is being taken threes at least 3 ways to get to the letter. Look for them
  3. if you see a guy in jeep or apc firing the gun, and the jeep and apc are not in any danger leave them be. He is helping the team. Don't be lazy and take a jeep to save u a few seconds.
  4. Prevention, this wont get you a lot of kills but will give your team breathing space. Toss a smoke or position gas nade in the direction of the enemy. It's psychological warfare, if they think they will get hurt or die if they go thru they will hesitate or just go round.
  5. If a S/L has no mic and is not setting frago's vote him off, u won't end the match with as much xp if he stays.
  6. Each PMC has it's strengths and weaknesses, get to know them. From guns, maps to game modes. you also have strengths and weaknesses so use them too
  7. it's not CoD, so don't be rambo but don't be shy to be a hero
  8. if a charge is counting down and threes a enemy waiting for u, get a friend to disarm it while u make yourself the target. U might die but it helps them team
  9. big gates and road blocks are very important have a repair kit in one of ur load outs to repair if they get blown up.
  10.  for ppl in the turrets, don't just stay in the turret and let so one else disarm the charge. too many times I have seen my bunker get blow up cause the guy in the turret was lazy
  11. Bunker: these are very good when u have one and very bad if you are facing them. If your defending u can resupply in a bunker and if your are being over run pop into a bunker and you can position yourself to come out of the bunker on any side (look for the yellow pillar) use this to catch your enemy off guard. If your attacking use sniper fire and rpg's to take out the turret or pop off some smoke and then go in for the kill
  12.  look at both your maps, it will help u to get a bearing and see if any enemy are close. If you see ppl following you use it against them, set up ambushes. Or hunt enemies down.
  13.  teamwork or lone wolf: each is good for something. If your team needs u. don't be far off but one guy behind enemy lines can win or at least help you win.
  14. For defending a APC behind your lines is a pain in the neck. Take it out if it's in your zone. If your attacking watch out for jeeps going pass your lines they could be holding repair guys.
  15.  a mic should be used for talking to your team mates, not blazing your hiphop music down the ears of your team mates
  16.  if you want to be a squad leader, listen to other SLs and learn from.
  17. TKin, it happens by accident but there always a muppet on your team who does it for fun. u may think to tk him for revenge but these muppets will more likely start a frenzy of killing ppl
  18. if you get a chance take out the sensors,motors and car pools this will help your team and draw away your enemy team member to repair them
  19.  having claymores around the back of your bunker or the AAA guns can help if someone surprises u. Place anti-tank mines alone the road but keep them apart.
  20.  kill the enemy that killed your team-mate before you revive them, too many times I have seen guys revive team-mates over and over again just to get points as they  keep dieing due to enemy gun fire and wont kill the enemy.

OK that's 20 for now, if you have tips that you think will help. Do put them in.

excellent thread. kudos.
21. Know your priorities. Concentrate on Bunkers first (attacking AND defending). These spawn points are vital in the first half of your game.
22. Defending C (Sabotage). To win the game you ALL need to be ready and close by to disarm charges on C. Sniping para's is not needed at this point.
23. If you see a big cloud of green smoke, avoid walking/driving straight into it. (unless your not Valor, in that case, please do...)

24.  Dont rush in the control room full of enemys.  Hold back and go in with a group of team mates.  You have a better chance to survive and accomplish your objective.

 

25. Dont test your control buttons in your spawn bunker, chances are you will shoot/frag your team mates.

26: For most situations healing is more important than killing. Keep your team mates revived and things will be much easier.

 

27: If you get the chance always kill with a knife, the vast majority of the time a knife kill means your enemy can't be revived.

 

28: If you incapacitate an enemy and you aren't in immediate danger, ALWAYS finish him off. Do not let your kill sit there while a team mate gets behind you and revives half his team.

 

29: Aggression always wins over cautiousness. Push up to your enemy.

 

30: PLEASE OWN A MIC IF YOU APPLY FOR SQUAD/PLATOON LEADER

 

31: When attacking if your entire team pushes the same place it makes defending against you very very simple. Try to get even 3-4 people to sneak around the outside and try to flank. 99% of the time your enemy wont see it coming and your little squad of 4 can wipe out an entire platoon while they are busy trying to fight off your primary force.

Number 30 is the golden rule :smileywink:

32. CHARGING IS ALWAYS SAFER. One match, I was attacking SVER - The gate was open, and I was stuck in the middle of the road. I made a run for it, taking out enemies and activated objective G. It is ALWAYS safer to run in crazy style than just sit there - And with 2 or more people doing the same thing, it is crazy effective.

# 3 infuriates me the most, I like to repair a motor pool, take a jeep behind the enemies lines, mount the guns and start shooting mercilessly, then some idiot jumps in and drives into the enemy and leaves the vehicle, leaving me stranded with turrets/ rocket launchers firing at me.

Here's another few to help u get thru the game

 

33. When in a fire fight against 2 or more enemies, position yourself so that your in line with at least 2 bad guys so they will mistakenly shoot each other and you can use enemy players as body guards.

34. Jimmy the cricket, I don't like it and don't do it myself but if someone is shooting at you, do as House of Pain say and "Jump around". Jumping is a good way to avoid sniper fire (so is zig zagging) and good way to surprise enemies when u jump over railing and knife them in the back.

35.MAG is a new type of FPS, most of u haven't played this type of game before. If you come from MW2 where u get Nukes thru Cheatin skill but you are pwned all the time on MAG. Change your approach. Your not getting loads of XP as a sniper? Don't be a sniper. If going in the front door to get A gets you killed every time go another way

36.when u go behind enemy lines, don't kill every enemy u see, it will attract attention and u wont get to do what you plan to do

37.Have a lot of different loadouts,sniper, run and gunner, APC destroyer, Doc and repair man. It helps the team a lot. If you want to die and change class don't give enemy a cheap kill. Press start and R3

38. Attacking with an APC, have the APC packed with players, go up to roadblock/gates  everyone get press R1 for the smoke and pull the APC back(make the APC the target for the enemy and they will for get about the guys that got out. This wont work all the time but when done can do a lot of damage.

39. OK you have a mic, don't just cough in it. Talk to ppl, give ppl warning of enemies in the area, ask someone to repair and revive you (don't forget to say thanks). You see a few guys hanging around the senor array tell you SL to bring the rain. And for SL don't be shy when telling ppl what to do. ppl will vote u off even if you a Hannibal or Alexander the great in mag. There are still ***** out there.

40.ok there's a lull in the game, don't forget to resupply. It's easy to forget in the heat of battle. but not doing can get u caught out

41.for Domination, all the bunker should be taken down, not just 2 or 3 but all of them, before you move on to get the letters.

42 you see a repair guy repairing the AAA or a bunker, don't leave it to someone else. Gut them

43. When attacking, Momentum is key for a win. when defending plug those gaps and absorb all the hits.

44. think outside the box, you can't get B on the raven dom map, send your squad for A it can turn games around or valor are attacking sver sabo map, send your squad to protect A.

45. you can shoot thru gratings from below and up above. A lot of watch towers have grat flooring so kill the snipers that hide there

46.Medic! Revive ppl when you see them. but don't go charging in to a room full of enemy players to get one guy.

47. after you kill a enemy, knife them. it stops them being revived be their team-mates

48. ok the gate has blown up, use one of your vehicles to block the way.

49 be prepared, the best and most used tactic in MAG so far is blitzkrieg. the enemy will come at you straight away think and fast.

50 Make friends: it helps most of the time, the friends you make will be on your PMC for at least awhile and teaming up can be great fun.

Disagree sorely with 38. I will ALWAYS put AT mines in front of the gate. Some idiots decide to run through them - Happens all the time because apparently this is a good tactic. It never works when I'm there.

51.So, you're attacking. Don't ditch your AT mines! Put em on a good road and I guarantee you a kill. I put em down as much as I can usually near the motor pool, on a road. You could just destroy the motor pool but it's more dangerous, and they can just repair it. AT mines are near invisible to enemies. A good spot is on the road near the mortar batteries on Valor's Acq.
