Just a heads up regarding the MAG Global Leaderboards which is currently up and available for you to peruse at http://www.mag.com/en_GB/mag/leaderboards.html
Log on to the website and scroll down a little bit to see them, you'll be able to check who is hot and who is lagging behind in the MAG world. You can check by territory (continent) and you can even break the stats down into leadership, command, kill and core statistics.
The boards are still in the beta stage as you will be able to see so keep an eye on them for any further functionality updates.
Still it's a beta version so hopefully there will be a name search at some point.

That's why a leaderboard for this game is largely pointless if you're only looking at XP - a ratio of XP/hour might be better but again that can probably be affected by the game type you're playing (and over time by the amount of time in game because vets get XP bonuses).
I think it's of more use/interest to compare the other players around you (especially before you vet) because on the same XP (i.e. time in game/level) you can draw some inference on "play style" by looking at what they've achieved in reaching that level.
Yeah, comparing yourself to other people you know is definitely the best thing to do, but it IS nice to see yourself on a leaderboard
