I have always ignored supression.
But I played it the other day.
My goodness. How dull.
It was a sniping festival. what is the point of that then? unless you want to practice sniping.
Sniping is fine if you are defending, but it always confuses me why up to half of my squad can camp on some buildings while we are supposed to be taking objectives... You really are not helping at all. you are just shooting the visible enemy, the real problem with attacking is the guys waiting around corners.
Attacking team snipers...cowards.
pmf (no "I" in team, but there is one in sniper)

hmmm, disagree.
Snipers are helpful when attacking, but in moderation. I mean, there is times when counter sniping is helpful. Say for example, a sniper is camped on the bridge between C and D (i think) in valor domination, then a sniper to quickly remove him could save a squads life.
But I do think attacking snipers need to move around. Camping doesn't exactly equal profit.

8 man squad....
3/4 snipers.
Which means 4 attackers vs 8 defenders, no good. unless each of those snipers can get a kill every 10-15 seconds. But seeing as most objectives are inside buildings, during the final push they are useless.
Attacking needs close fire support, smoke grenades, medics and a few guys to cover the guy taking the objective/ planting explosives and then hold the objective to stop it being taken back. not long range snipers.
how many objectives (whilst attacking) can be controlled from range?
pmf (get involved)

Good snipers are brilliant. Very useful for overlooking the Burnoff and Cooling towers on Domination. As for attacking, I don't like them as much, except on VALORs Sabotage map, where, at their C base, there's a crack in the wall in some stairs, which you can snipe the enemy from as they run across a bridge to get to B.

Snipers can help a lot, but as others said, only in moderation. I would say 1-2 max per squad is enough and possibly too much even.
If attacking, they can still the flow of troops to the main scene while remaining out of frag spammage, allowing the other squaddies to get in close.
They are also useful for sniper battles, against snipers who are doing the same to you.
However, too many and it's a lost cause.
Not sure how the game throws people in pre match, but would be nice if it automatically tried to distribute sniper specced people evenly across squads. (not splitting partied members)

Generally though, if someone is specced a certain way, then they will have weapons that relate to that spec. If they weighted the sniper skills/items to give more of bias to your spec then it'd probably work out that if you had a second or third sniper weapon unlocked you'd be classed as such.
It would also stand to reason that why would anyone who was for instance a direct class spec, choose the more rubbish sniper weapon?
Granted there are lots of scenarios where it doesn't really work, however it's better than nothing for very little effort by the game.
As it stands currently, assuming that it doesn't have any sort of class distribution, you could well end up in a squad of 7 other snipers.
