One can hardly not notice the advertising of Apple products (iPod and Mac mostly) on MGS4, but does anyone think that this is bad... it's a sci-fi game with Apple branding on all computer equipé.... anyone think that it makes the game look bad?

Lol that a good point, I think its cool and I really like the fact you can use the ipod.

what about stuff like Sony Ericsson phones too? as long as 'adverts' fit in to the gameplay and surroundings of a game (plastering them on billboards is going a bit too far, tis too easy to do), then i dont see the harm. as long as it doesnt intrude too much on the game itself, even adding to it, then it cant be that bad.

It's more product placement than advertising, like in films you don't have the camera suddenly pausing on a big billboard, but you will see, for example, Bond's Sony Ericsson phone.

having lots of no-name things has a differant effect.

metal gear mk 2 - "omg i wish i had one of them"

Hals macbook pro - "omg i have one of them!!!"

I think it's all to do with giving the game a movie like epic feel, I bet Konami went to these companies purposely to get this done rather than the other way around in movies.

I agree with you on that one and as much as I love the product placement I %£%£$ hate iPods. Should've used the Creative Zen. Much better and you don't need to buy music from them

Yeah - I took this to be an effort NOT to include references to Windows / MS or anything to do with the 360.

Sony wouldn't want that and it harmlessly brings advertising into the game, if all in-game advertising is as subtle as this, I won't mind....
