My ethernet cable goes outside my house and through the windows. I just put it like that as it'll give me a better connection than doing wireless from upstairs to downstairs.

Yeah, I used to have a modem in the same room as the PS3 but when the guy's came and updated us to fibreoptic they didn't use that wire... so my modem's downstairs by the TV. I'll be drilling a hole for the wire and tack it to the wall and everything eventually, make a nice job of it.
