Sometimes even two days early! ![]()
Can't remember which game it was but I got it two days early, it's only happened the once so far though.
The only time I don't pre-order with ShopTo is mainly when there is a special edition I want but they aren't selling it. =(
Anyway yeah back on topic... Metal Gear! ![]()

90% done on MGS1 Snake and I'm now starting to struggle with it.
Just got Variety and Hold Up left to do I think.
I've done it all before on PS2 so hopefully I can do it again now!
And yes... Then I'll have Platinum.

Biggest challenge was the Solidus Fight right at the end.
Speaking of Solidus, the torture bit I actually did first time! I didn't expect to.
Anyway, when the fight came afterwards I had less than a quarter health and no rations!
It took a few goes and I finally did manage to beat him with that small amount of health.
So yeah, I did enjoy playing it on Extreme.
Oh and I have to mention, Fortune completely caught me off guard, didn't expect her to go crazy and destroy literally everything. XD
I don't think I remember that on the PS2 haha.
What? Really? I must admit I found him the easiest of all the boss fights. Who did you find the easiest? The Harrier however (and the Metal Gear Rays to a lesser extent) were the absolute bane of me. Up until then I'd gotten through relatively fast (one hour and thirty minutes) but I'd spent upwards of two hours on that. It didn't help that I was saving the one ration I had (at that time) for the Ray fight (which also made Vamp rather annoying since one hit equaled death and I didn't get the second ration until Snake threw it in Arsenal Gear Ileum).
Oh and can anybody give a rough estimate on the time it takes to get through the Snake Tales missions? I never played them before so am unsure whether to expect an hour of gameplay per mission or if the time per playthrough of each is much more like the VR missions.
I meant he was a challenge as in because I had so little health that one hit from him put me on orange health haha, then another attack from him kills me.
But after mistakes I finally did it on the third or so try I think.
As for Snake Tales, I think it took me about an hour for each one. (45mins to an hour.)
Oh right
. That certainly does explain it then as his "interesting" stage must be an absolute nightmare with two hits.
And even though I didn't see it until now (and I have them finished) thanks for the Snake Tales times, 45 minutes seems about right for them.

Just saying that... I got MGS3 Platinum today. =D
Not sure when I'll start Peace Walker, might take a short break from gaming for a while and continue again on Thursday. (Plus to keep with the trend of starting each one on a Thursday haha.)
Also thought about maybe playing the Metal Gear games beforehand too.
Speaking of playing the other games, I'm wanting to play MGS4 again at some point but hell, why leave it there, may as well play MGS1 and Portable Ops again haha. =D
Quickly speaking of Portable Ops, I think it would be good to have that released on PS3. Maybe as a PSP Remastered game? (Do we actually have any of those yet? Or even in the UK?)
BUT! If they were to do that, I'd want them to do some recording so that we have the voices for the codec etc.
You gotta admit, it would be a hell of a lot better than the PSP version, not to mention the second analog stick!
=P

I'm not the biggest fan of HD remasters myself, I loved portable ops though. I can't decide whether I like the Peace walker style drop in drop out mission style or the long winded linear approach the other games encompass. Both have their ups and downs. Portable ops is still quite underrated though, and Kojima's involvement was quite minimal apparently. As such I can't see it ever happening, although I'd probably buy it for the sake of a right stick.
On the note of PSP remasters though, as far as I know the only one is the God of War collection Volume 2, which featured remakes of chains of olympus and ghost of sparta.

Yo guys, would like to express my thanks and gratitude to Garry, he helped me play Peace Walker, not just cause I couldnt do it, but cause it was bloody fun! Cheers Garry, seriously the most fun Ive had on my PS3 for some years. Peace Walker is friggin' incredible too, I didnt build my hopes up for it, even though alot of people said it was good. But my, its brilliant!
Edit: He played the whole game with me...not just randomly played it which is how I made it sound ha
