MGS: remastered in HD

Konami has announced it is to revisit Hideo Kojima's seminal Metal Gear Solid series with a special HD remastered collection for PlayStation®3.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will release in November and will comprise HD remastered versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. It will mark the first time these legendary titles have been released on PS3, and will act as a stunning introduction to one of the most enduring video game series of all time.

Metal Gear mastermind and series creator Hideo Kojima is overseeing the updates for each title. In addition to the enhanced, high-definition visuals, all titles in the collection will support trophies, marking another first in the series.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater opens the set, with series hero Snake entering a Soviet jungle where intelligence reports a vital scientist is being held captive. Set in the 60s of the Cold War, Snake Eater sees Snake using his stealth abilities in a whole new locale - under the cover of the jungle foliage where various camo fatigues can be used to sneak into areas undiscovered. The riveting plot then reveals a familiar face from Snake's past at its centre.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker takes place a decade later and details the operations of Big Boss in Costa Rica. The year is 1974, and Costa Rica has been overrun by an organisation of highly-trained mercenaries. Working with a squad of neutral troops, Snake soon uncovers a CIA plot, and becomes embroiled in a mission to thwart a nuclear threat. The timeline then moves on to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, which is set in modern times and marks Raiden's first appearance in the series.

Solid Snake and Otacon receive intel that a new kind of Metal Gear vehicle is being transported across the Hudson River. Snake infiltrates the tanker, which is then seized by a group of Russian mercenaries lead by Revolver Ocelot. Two years pass, and a new terrorist faction calling themselves The Sons of Liberty have taken over the Big Shell base. New Fox Hound operative, Raiden, is sent to investigate.

"The Metal Gear Solid games have been a huge success and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is a stunning way to celebrate this most inventive and entertaining series," explained Martin Schneider, General Manager for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. "Every aspect of the three games has been updated to ensure they look as fresh on their new host formats as they did when first released. Stealth fans should be prepared... November will mark the return of one of gaming and Konami's most iconic series."

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be released for PlayStation®3 in November.

Re: MGS: remastered in HD

I was very close to importing but i missed out on the LE from amazon, and will wait agnozingly until feb for my favourite game of all time, heres hoping they do something special for the EU release,

I remember when MGS2 2 came out 3 months late, kojima included an extra difficulty european extreme, and did the same thing for snake eater

But i have seen that there have been some minor errors with the transfer

GORGE SEARS anyone?

GORGE-SEARS.jpg

Also the sea lice are missing in some scences aswell as the gurlokovich soldiers rope when he rappels onto the tanker but i digress

Re: MGS: remastered in HD

i saw a picture comparison of fortune walking and the sea lice were missing but when i got to that scene they were there. mind you there has been a patch already so perhap some of these little errors have been fixed. i had already seen the gorge sears pic too but forgot to check it when it appeared, will keep my eyes out (like big boss & solidus) on my next plant playthrough.
so far i've platinumed MGS3, which i played first, and am now working through MGS2 collecting dog tags. 100% on very easy through tanker/plant and 100% on easy & normal on tanker (just need hard & extreme). definately alot more to get through in MGS2 than 3, would have been nice to have the monkeys in 3.
i never played peace walker so i'll leave that till last or i may even wait till the aussie release to try ou the online as i fear the lag could be a shocker with my import and overseas players.

Re: MGS: remastered in HD

i got my copy from ebay melbourne which took about 4days to arrive. I couldn't wait till feb either. Toughest decision choosing between starting via story or release. I went with story.. so PW is next for me. Im thinking of even going back to MGS1 before MGS2.. ill see after PW. Also, looks like im on the right track for getting the platinum in one playthough for MGS3 . MGS2 looks abit too demanding for platinum..5 playthroughs recommended, geez :smileyfrustrated:

I had a problem in MGS3 where i couldn't get the Pains hornet nest. i was throwing 3 on his island and they would disappear everytime after final cutscene. But after several tries one stayed. And also with the WATER face paint it drove me nuts to find. the official strategy says its south of Svyatogornyj South. its actually Ponizovje South .. just after u leave the caves.

Anyways, my last save is at Svyatogornyj South heading upto the End   remember this as being one of my greatest gaming experiences.

Re: MGS: remastered in HD

I replayed the original MGS during a quiet late winter period this year... before Forza/Gears/Uncharted/Assassins all started coming out at the same time..

This is the one PS HD Classics 'trilogy' I'm actually that interested in... with the exception of the Sly trilogy it seems most to date have been pretty lazy sub-HD ports with trophies.

Jak probably interests me also, due to those being my ex's games, and me not actually having them still... and the first Jak had kinda a charm about it..

Re: MGS: remastered in HD

i would of had the platinum in 1 play through but i some how killed 1 guard (which i found out in the sorrow river battle) and from there on i just concentrated on all the other trophies and then did a quick speed run with the stealth. first run took about 15 hours with all the collecting and cut scenes, next run done in one sitting about 2-3 hours.

got 100% dog tags on tanker hard so only extreme now to get and then i'll move onto the plant tags. i'd love to get the plat for mgs2 but it aint gunna be easy... or quick.

but i managed no alerts on my first mgs2 run :smileyhappy: even though i tranquilised all enemies & bosses, the result screen showed 3 killed

im currently working on dogtags, snake tales & VR missions..which is really getting to me!!
