Is this the end of Metal Gear Online?

I have been playing Metal Gear online since it started on the PS3. I’m more then just proud to say that I play it far more then any other game I have. But I was shocked to receive the news on the official MGO site that they are ending in June this year. I can only hope that they are in the later stages of producing a Metal Gear Online 3. In my opinion Metal Gear Online is the most comprehensive team driven shooter that has a truly competitive system to grace the Playstation Network.  

I feel that we need more information on up and coming MGO titles. This game should not leave our PSN universe without a new version to take its place. What do you all think?

When MGS4 first come out the online was amazing. But the structure of the online part was horrible. For example for new DLC you had to buy the DLC from the MGS store instead of the PSN store if I remember correctly. Then there was then long updates. It just put me off playing it. Last year I tried playing it again but everyone was so good I could not get a kill I was just target practices lol. So I never played it again.

It is a shame the online is shutting down. But it could off been so much better.

I have had this game since release and have hardly played the online, did not like it then and it has aged really badly, also the hassle of using a Konami ID was a pain.

Arrgghhh konami ID - worst idea ever. Plus the stupid way updates were done via that peer to peer method. Konami really dont have a clue how to do online properly. PES has always been a mess online too.

i put over 1000hrs into the online mode but havent touched it for 2/3 yrs, alot of people still play this?

It remains to this day one of the best online experiences I have ever had. The game itself was so good.

I played this online wehn MGS4 first came out but it seemed so complicated at times that I ust gave up with it.

A shame really as when I did play it I thought it was quite good.

It was nice to see a response to the thread that I have posted about end MGO. The points that you have all raised are both constructive and valid. I to had suffered with having to pay for DLC through the MGO online shop and not on the PSN Store; that would have been good. The control system of MGO is complicated if you compare it to most main stream run and gun shooter like Call Of Duty but MGO feature grater range of methods to dispose of your enemies. We can all shoot and whip a knife out in the heat of an online battle. But how many of you can say that you had held your enemy close as a human shield, tranquilised their teammate whilst they shot at you, removed the captive enemies weapons before disposing of them both?

No other game rolls like that! It’s like being; Jason Bourn or even 007 for a moment. And you just know the online player you just disposed of felt own. Enemy disposal in an Art form. It’s like the Street fighter of the online shooters. Mad Combo’s

The First MGO for PS2 should have never come to an end.... so sad they (Konami) will break thousands of hearts onece again!
