Re: MGS Rising becomes Metal Gear: Revengeance - Trailer

Vamp seems to be one of the cyborg enemies in this game. Kind of like a Grey Fox sort of deal.

Hmm, I'll be happy to let them explain it in a lengthy cutscene. Or we'll see how this game handles its story telling... perhaps in a quicktime event sword fight cutscene where he talks and fights at the same time, on falling wreckage of a MG Ray...jumping from piece to piece lol

Re: MGS Rising becomes Metal Gear: Revengeance - Trailer

I thought Rising takes place between MGS2 and MGS4? That's the last I heard anyway.

Either way it should be a spinoff.

Also I just watched the trailer again and then watched the one from E3 last year.

E3 last year wins for me, looks so much better too.

Yeah, I thought it did as well. Especially given the end of MGS4. I'd much prefer it to be a spin off assuming it abandons the no kill run philosophy and pretty much any element of stealth.

Re: MGS Rising becomes Metal Gear: Revengeance - Trailer

The trailer doesn't change my feeling towards the game, nor does the change in developer tbh. We knew it wouldn't be a traditional MG game, but now we at least know a bit about how it will play.

The change in developer isn't really surprising, the game has been in development for a few years now and nothing has really been shown. Either development hasn't really been going anywhere and it's been a drain, or development was stopped a while ago for the team to concentrate on other projects, one of which I can assume is the hinted at MGS5, the collections and PW, etc. All money making ventures and Rising needed to make money too, with it being a spin-off it was passed on.

For me, it'll be nice to see how another developer handles an MG game, even if it's not a true MG game, and it would be nice to see Kojima Productions try something new, but I don't see that happening.

Indeed we did but I'm just saying that I think the game looked better from the E3 trailer last year.

Ah well it's done with now, no point moaning I guess haha.

Yeah I think it's a Vamp lookalike cyborg since straight a close of him Raiden says it's a cyborg.

Kojima Comments About Rising Change

This is all taken from the Hideo Kojima EN Twitter account.

First of all he said this:

"You can find the truth why we reborn "RISING" with Platinum at 5pm PST wednesday."

So I guess we'll find out more then.

Here are the rest of his comments:

"Rebirth of "RISING". You may have felt "the coloring and atmosphere seems not Metal". The old RISING developed by Koji Pro back then had to have the Metal look and complicated control in 30 frames. My only favor i had to Platinum was "cool Raiden who moves without awkward feeling in 60 frames".

"Every time I hand over project to my staff, always get response like "it has to be your Metal", which I don't think so.. I've asked to my ex-RISING team for making a spin-off. I bet many people would have felt "it ain't Metal" even if the ex-RISING would have been unleashed."

"One of the reasons changing the title from "Metal Gear Solid Rising" to "Metal Gear Rising" was that I wanted them to create new protagonist Raiden, not SOLID without been haunted by the spin-off."

He also said:

"Will have press event here in LA tomorrow with Mr. Inaba. Will give more in detail about this project, and show 25-mins long making-of interview footage of both Kojima Production & Platinum Games."

Thoughts?

He said spin-off so hopefully that's confirmed it that it will be a spin-off which in my mind is a good thing.
