Metal Gear Solid 4: Butters the Bread for Konami

4 Replies 1,577 Views Created 07-11-2008

Interesting Read

"During the company's [Konamis] first half — ignore those "Q2"s, that's all April to September stuff — gamers worldwide snatched up over 4 million copies of Metal Gear Solid 4, with total Metal Gear series sales amounting to 4.33 million. That's more than a third of the Konami's total game sales for the six month period, with the games division pulling in about $950 million (USD) in revenue."

And I'd expect that to increase further with the recent bundle-driven boost to PS3 Sales in Japan. PS3 outsold the Wii and wiped out the deficit of the last 7 weeks to the 360.

I wouldn't have expected anything different. I mean name all the other Konami games that came out in this period. That's right bugger all. The only other big Konami games that come to mind are Pro Evolution Soccer and Silent Hill.

Also Atari Australia will no longer be distributing Konami games in Australia.

What does that mean? Will Konami games still be made available to Australia through another distributor?
