I think 1 of 3 things can happen:
1: It's a game that uses the MGS4/MGO engine and has a great story and lots of GAMEPLAY..... and we all love it
2: It's a game that tries all the stuff it's never had the guts to before, like maybe it turns out to be a FPS MGS, or a strategy game and it limits it's own audience.
3: It is a great game, but has a lousy story, letting people rely on ONLINE. [Like MGS4 basically]
Looking at Peacewalker and how it's turned out in that demo, I think if Rising sucks, Peace walker is a fair alternative. It's really done well this time. Just like Kojima said it's a game that's as good as the MGS series on console.

I read somewhere that it was an engine similar to MGS4 but it was being built from the ground up rather than carrying on using the MGS4 engine as a template. Because they need to see what they can do to the controls and targeting etc to make it best for more than just PS3 users now. This is going multi so expect "noobisms" and "newcomer-friendly storylines".
