Re: Ye Olde MGS Pub

Unrelated, but it looks like that Final Fantasy XII sequel that GREE were working on has been farmed off to Eidos Montreal and its due for an E3 reveal. It'll probably be a train-wreck though, especially if Matsuno's not involved, as the synopsis they provided sounds B0RRRRING!

http://www.the15thcrystal.net/2012/05/25/square-enix-to-announce-final-fantasy-xii-sequel-rumor.html

It does sound a bit like Vagrant Story, though I doubt it can be anywhere near as good as they'll probably just use the "safe" Western RPG template. There seems to be very little scope for the political turmoil and plot twists that were easily the best part of the Ivalice collection.

Yeah chances are in Tekken if you can't side step it you can duck it, trick is to know which version of the  projectile move they are about to do.

If the Hadouken moved a little faster, and took up 3 layers... forcing players to either jump over it or try to block it, it could work just fine. And to make sure they'd probably have Ryu or Ken pose or go light headed for a second to stop spamming. Like Devil Jin's laser.

EDIT: I had to put the U in Hadouken to show I am not a COMPLETE noob.

Well even as things are there are 4 different speeds of Hadouken (or atleast there are in regular Street Fighter IV, not realy paid too much attention in this yet)

Hadouken light punch goes fastest, but obv does least damage and then as they get more powerful they move slower apart from EX Hadouken which is fast and strong, but blah, I suppose they could do it.

This copy of SFxTekken that I have atm is just a rental so I won't have it much longer, I'd like to buy a copy but there's bound to be Super Street Fighter X Tekken released at some point with all the dlc included and I'm thinking I'll wait till then and just go back to Street Fighter IV for my beat em up fix after sending this back, but I dunno, I do realy like it (and will prob be going on for a wee while pretty soon if you fancy it ;P)

EDIT - The only way I'll play another Final Fantasy game is if it is almost like a rip off of Vagrant Story,,, now there's one hell of a good game,,,, got me tempted to whip out my boxed copy now

I've only played Final Fantasy 13, I think I gave it 12 hours all together but I realised I was mashing X and not really thinking about the attacks and stuff. It looked nice but I got bored, traded it in.
Don't think I'd play another.

Speaking of Fantasy, I've seen some stuff about Elder Scrolls Online. There's people saying it's going to be brilliant and there's people saying it's doomed already... but not many, like me, who are just waiting to see how it's all going to work. I don't think I'll buy/play it simply because it's a genre I don't care for. I'll wait for the Skyrim DLC and maybe a new single player.

As for Street Fighter, I can't play IV because it feels very difficult. I don't mind admitting that it's because I suck at the game it only cost me a fiver because there's fancy versions of it all over the place now.
SF x Tekken however, was £20 instead of £30 at the shop so I just thought I'd get it, used the £10 I saved to get Sonic 4 Episode 2. Speaking of which...

Because I have Episode 1 it gave me the 4 levels where you get to play as Metal Sonic as well. The game engine feels a lot better than Episode 1 and they've borrowed the tag team moves from Sonic Advance 3 and assigned them to Square button but even with it's better engine it's no Sonic Advance 3 (The peak of 2D Sonic in my opinion)

Re: Ye Olde MGS Pub

The thing that would put me off elder scrolls online is if its your generic mmorpg format, like WoW, which I have struggled to get into time after time.
If it could somehow manage a world like skyrim that even played quite similarly, I'd be more intrigued, but I'm waiting for dawn guard also, and I'm quite excited to say the least.

Re: Ye Olde MGS Pub

Elder Scrolls Online, I loved the sound of before they annouced it and I actually thought about it, but yeah I'll see how it goes. I would love to be able to get into an MMO, mainly because of the co-operative aspect, but I'm also scared to get into one as I know it would drain my life.

FFXII, I didn't like too much, I just couldn't get into it, well after about 20-30 hours, lol. I just couldn't be bothered to go on after putting it down for a little while, a sequel to that doesn't excite me.

Minecraft (going back a little way) I love, I've put so many hours into it. It's not a perfect sanbox game because there are a lot of limitations to actually making anything intricate, unless you're a genius with redstone and in terms of a game, it doesn't really have all that much going for it. They are adding more and more to it, and some things like NPC's who you can actually trade with says to me they are going in the right direction, but I can understand why it doesn't appeal to a lot of people.

Re: Ye Olde MGS Pub

Just realised the new locations/screenshots for Yakuza 5 came out a few days back.

http://andriasang.com/con151/yakuza5_screens/

Pretty exciting, especially since I've been to half of the places in the screenshots! Should be a good way to cope with withdrawal sydrome after I've left Japan :smileyhappy:

Re: Ye Olde MGS Pub

Hello everyone, bit gutted this morning. I turned on my PC and loaded up Skyrim, some of you might know I was doing a 'dead means dead' play through, anyway not long into today's adventure I was greeted by 2 Dragons and once, and had death that would be described as extra crispy I guess.
I got to level 29 and about a quarter, after about 47 hours of gameplay. I thought my ambush by 3 bears at once was going to do it yesterday but I survived that like a boss. So... 'oh well' lol

Hope you're all ok and not being attacked by bears or dragons.
I was keeping photos on facebook but I might put them into a video with captions for something to do today.

If you've got this crazy sun where you are, be careful, I've seen SO many people with clothing shaped BURNED onto their flesh this week lol

Only in the same way that someone who's been to the Statue of Liberty can say that they've been to the GTA Liberty City Statue of Happiness though. Like,, I know that no other game series realy captures the feel of Toyko streets quite like Yakuza and it is 'based' on the red light district of Tokyo but they're still fictional locations none the less.

I hope Yakuza 5 stays in Kamurocho, fallen in love with that place throughout the years but realy excited that they've said they're using a new engine because to me a bit of freshening up in that regard is exactly what the franchise needs.

It's always taken me by surprise that none of my fellow MGSers around here have ever played the Yakuza games (or atleast spoke bout them, cos hey, maybe you have played 'em) because while the game itself is obviously completely different from MGS the relationships between characters, quirk of characters, quality and humour of cutscenes and story are right up there with MGS. Blah. Go and give Yakuza 4 a try people, can easily get it for a tenner or less in most places now :smileyvery-happy:

FAO Garry, Playing Skyrim with a 'dead is dead' attitude was never gonna work, I like the idea behind it though, and no bear attacks on me out in the sunshine so far this week,, wouldn't mind a Cougar attack though

Well it's a little different really. I mean Kabukicho actually has an insanely similar layout to Kamurocho and the two main streets (the one with the big red sign) are virtually identical (was actually there yesterday).

Can't really comment on Osaka etc. since obviously they just showed the most famous landmarks, but since they only re-create small areas; I feel they're at least a little closer than GTA ever will be.

But yeah I agree on how it's a shame no one really seems to play them. KK likes them quite a lot too, but besides that no one's ever been to interested. Closest thing we'll ever get to Shenmue 3 too so that's one other reason I've always liked them :smileyhappy:
