You're welcome mini, thanks for the enthusiastic thanks!
I never commented on any of this myself as I was hoping others would voice their opinions first but I've waiting long enough.
Negs:
Mini, we share some of the same concerns. I'm not happy about the automatic use of boost and from the vids I've watched I've never seen any shielding of any kind. That is a big mistake, boost/shield strategy is what seperates average racers from good racers.
Custom weapon creation seems cool at first thought but it's going to get way out of hand I think. To much flexibility can be a bad thing. We need to be able to hold onto something familiar so when we are racing an unfamliar track we can at least know what kind of weapons we'll be using. What about mines anyway? No mention of that at all.
Also, allowing creators to alter and set cart settings for their track is ridiculous. Goes back to what I was saying about weapons. I don't want to go into a track blind as to how my kart is going to behave. I like knowing what to expect somewhat at least.
Hopefully it's just an early build thing but I was really hoping for a co-creator aspect where you can invite friends to your pod to create tracks together.
Using pictures to create stickers, not a fan. MNR kart/mod creators where fabulous with the way they were able to manipulate the sticker set. It feels kind of cheap if I can just take a picture of something and slap it on the side of my kart.
I think it was ripper that said in the other thread that he's concerned about LBP creators wanting to tell stories with LBPK and not create tracks. I'm hella worried about that too. I think there is going to be a splintering of the community. Those that want to race and those that want to watch a movie.
Pos:
More controler options.
Giopaint seems very versatile and should make it a TON easier to create indoor tracks.
Light/darkness controll and driving with headlights could be awesome if done proper.
Ice and mud terrain actually effect karts.
ripper replied while I was typing away at the above so:

As for the information we got so far, I really don't think that there's any point on learning how to race in the game because every track will have different karts, different weapons, different speeds, different objectives, different rules, different "logic", and so on. IMO they are giving creators way too many options thinking that it'll improve the game, but I'm afraid it will end up ruining it.
Exactly.

Of course tracks will have different gimicks, but tbh it seems there's only 2 kinds of tracks: Race and Battle. As long as they implement the proper restrictions there shouldn't be much of a problem.
The game may become just what they keep repeating, a kart adventure game (not a racing game). Which on the positive side keeps room for MNR2 as it would be a straight racing game.
Agreed.
As for the drifting, welcome to MarioKart's style of drifting. A lot of people don't understand how much of a different kart racer MNR is. I just hope they don't allow us to completely rape the tracks because of the drift boost. system. Man we had a field day with MKWii.
Ah, good times, good times...
I hope region lock isn't there at all either. The Asia rooms in MKWii had the most talent AND fun... I've got an ecletic friends list with a lot of players from my SSBB and MKWii days but they no was like MNR... epic sad face...

Yeah I have some of the same concerns you guys do about the racing part of LBPK. However I will wait until see for myself first hand, provided I actually get in lol, to judge the game. I think part of it too is none of these people that tried the game at the GameJam have really played MNR so I'm taking what they are saying about the racing with a grain of salt. My biggest concern, is that the game will be full of these stupid minigames, and not even be close to a true kart racer.

I think the LBP people have very little respect for the MNR community, i fear the worst
None of them have respect each other, deal with this.

sorry if it was there an i missed it .. but has anyone heard if there is an actual sheilding function.. cause without a shield it makes it *****ty like mario kart where is it mostly luck at the end of the race....
and i hope you CANNOT get out of your cart or somthing stupid like that becuase we will see more levels poeple make that are just walk through and play like a mario game rather than racing !
and as for there being a lot of horrible tracks and only a few good ones is the reality of the game.. becuase people can make whatever they want it WILL be flooded with unplayable tracks ....
thats why i want to add every serious modnation racer so i can just race agaist the best of the best creators and racers who really want to play a RACING game and not mini games all day .... eventhough some mini games do look cool ..
ohh yeah i cant wait to get in a battle room with all you modders too ! that will be somthing different to look forward too .. the best and fastest racer may not be the best battler ....![]()
