And so are adults. And guess what? They're the ones with the money.

Just look at the data: average purchaser 39 years old, and average gamer 30-34 years old. Only 25% of gamers are 18 and under.  It's not that they're buying the games for their kids, they are playing them. Let them focus LBPK on the "kids", and give the other 75% (with money) a proper MNR2.

Doesn't make any sense.

When PS1 was released, my dad played games (and guess what, he is an adult), he bought stuff for himself and stuff. Then got tired of it and left to me.

So the fact i'm playing games it's because of his impulse purchases. How hilarious.

Note: i never asked videogames and not even computers. My parents gave me the stuff they bought.

Uh.

Re: LittleBigPlanet Karting GameJam 2012

He was full of life when the BETA was announced. It was all he would talk about.

I've never seen a fictional character so eager to begin building tracks.

But he never got his code, and all because he lived in a little place called Europe.

He was inconsolable, after days of deep dark depressions we were all growing more and more concerned for him.

But we never thought it would come to this.

His blood (stuffing) is on your hands developers.

This is so untrue for me...

As a younger kid I loved stats and research (I know, I'm weird) and I could only get games occasionally, so I put a lot of research and thought into the games I bought. I never got a game I didn't like until I more recently stopped researching... As I get older I become more and more impulsive on my purchases.

On the topic of statistics, thanks for posting those ripper, they are interesting.

Re: LittleBigPlanet Karting GameJam 2012

Must I really elaborate? First off, when I mean kid, I don't mean teen. There's a reason ESRB has both ratings.

There are millions of little kids who can cloud the judgement of their parents with their whining to get a game. If their whining lands on LBPK, fine. But if it lands on some Wii shovelware, I am dissapoint.

Do you know why 90% of all UGC in a UGC game is crap? Because 95% of the people playing either don't create anything, play well or create junk. Those who create junk and feel entitled to a reward (a fictional trophy) are the kids.

atheistsw, the manipulative marketing works and more and more kids are becoming entitled.

If all of them were like mini_schnauzer67 and actually did their research we'd have less crap.

blackjet2000, I honestly don't understand the relation between what you just said and what I said.

At the time of the PS1(and before, explaining Action 52), there were less ways to inform yourself about what's crap and what isn't, so it's understandable.

But today, with vidya games being everywhere, you have no reason not to be informed about your game, since the hype surrounding them is too much.

ripper171, even if adults are the majority and have the money, why market to adults? If you market to them, you're not reaching everyone younger! But by marketing to the kids, as you said, the adults will buy the game AND play it with the kids.

To me, Play is for kids, Create is for adults / mature people and Share is for everyone. Do you like that?

BTW, I already knew about those statistics.

mini_schnauzer67, I was generalizing. And I thought you were a teen? I'm fourteen. Again, there's a reason there's a T for teen in the ESRB.

What I don't get is how they picked three excellent racers, but not three excellent players as far as I know. (lbc, ath, argo)

I don't know about prob though.
