With +2 handling countersteering in a drift equals loss of speed, but do quick taps of the left stick in the opposite direction of the drift have the same effect?

Additinally, I have conducted a bit of experimentation on WHALE racing coastline and concluded that I can't use +2 drift - even by using a different driving technique according to what earl described in his post I can't even come close to the lap times I get with +1 handling (I'm talking 3 seconds difference here. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.)

i tried out your test and had similar results .I noticed that on da unpaved areas the timetrial ghost pretty much gain 1 second of lead or so. so i decided to make my test track with unpaved roads. when it comes to offroad terrain handling is by far superior.

on my new off road test track i got 47seconds best lap usin +2 drift and 35 seconds using handling , (guess thats another penality of +drift)

I hope you recorded that as well ( the 2 races of off road)

And yeah, +2handling wins without doubt the +2 drift, boosting or not.

So somebody please explain this landing on a Red Boost Pad backwards.  Why would that do anything and why would it work?  Seems kind of hard to do correctly.  Never heard of such a thing.

I can guess the red arrow FORCES your kart to go the direction pointed, while being in air, the kart becomes lightly (so no wonder why most of the times when your kart gains air time it sometimes gives you that no gravity feeling).

So if the kart while on air, is pointed in another way, it gives you more probability to fasten up, you quickly reach top speed if the kart is pointed in opposite direction of the arrow, you can see it how it works by watching earl's latest vids (kumi test).

To be seriously honest, it's just just a strange, curious and pretty handy thing.

Well it doesn't sound right at all. But I did notice this a few months back in hot lap. Assyrion used the trick to land on red boost pads backwards. He always got an advantage there (compared to me landing in the right direction).

For whatever reason landing the wrong way will push your kart to top speed instantly.

I stole the trick from tada and his japanese friends, if you notice, almost all his WHALE tracks have red boost pads after a big jump... !
