Now this might be common knowledge to you folks out there, but you know how, while in the air, you can change which direction your kart faces with the right control stick? You know how, if your kart is not facing in the direction that you're going after landing from a jump, then you'll stall? Doesn't that look like you're doing a powerslide to you?
Well, while fooling around a bit in the ModSpot, I found out that, if you do a super hop, you can still change the direction that you're facing while in the air by using the right control stick. Now it probably wouldn't do you any good in the majority of tracks out there, but I'd imagine that it would help you take sharp, narrow turns quicker. It can be done using any combination of kart settings, though a higher acceleration setting would probably be recommended since you'll essentially come to a stop by landing while not facing forward, and a higher acceleration setting will, of course, help you reach your top speed quicker.

I nearly always double jump and spin 180 over the finish line in races, and I sometimes used to do a motorstorm style finish and detonate over the finish, though that nearly cost me a race last night as they "fixed" the select button which now takes people slightly backwards compared to where they reset, which is a good idea... but screws up my finish ><

I have never thought of doing a motorstorm finish and now that you have metioned it I want to do it. I love the motorstorm series.

Tried that powerslide you mention on some tracks before, but it's hard to control and it's inconsistent (example: super jumping and then using the right stick to change your direction will sometimes result in 180º spins and other times in >90º, inconsistent)... so spins would have to be really precise for it to be a viable technique in my opinion. If there's a really narrow and sharp turn as you say and double jumping and super jumping doesn't work, I think the next best thing would be to use the brakes.

The super jump IS the double jump. It can also be called a super hop.
Anyways, yeah. I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts on it were. Like I mentioned before, it's not all that useful in most of the tracks out there (unless you've crashed head-first into a wall and aren't facing the track), and I was only debating on possible uses.

For me:
Super jump: the double tap jump that is higher than normal
Double jump: Jumping twice. Like jumping right after landing a jump; helps with tight corners
