Hi everyone,
This kart is a tribute to Gustav Holst, my favourite classical music composer. His music brings joy to me, it is amazing work. If you have the slightest interest in classical music then you should look him up!
This kart has been around for a week, but I thought I'd post it here. I've never put any effort into a kart before, and I found it to be a fun experience. It's amazing what you can do with a few stickers. However, I'm sure that this kart is not that good in the grand scheme of things, so I would like some tips from people who have created more karts than me (that should be all of you lol!)
There are some references to classical music in here, so I thought I'd mention them. Firstly, you might wonder, why a trombone? Well, Gustav Holst was a trombonist before becoming a composer, so I thought it would be a suitible instrument to make from stickers. Secondly, why the 2 planets? Some of you will be familiar with Holst's most famous work: The Planets Suite. The planets are a representation of that. Finally, the words on the back are 2 of Holst's compositions: Moorside Suite and The Planets Suite. I found the back narrow and hard to work with so I didn't constuct anything on it.
Anyway, I have more photos but for now I'll only post the one from the website. Sorry. There needs to be a way to access the photos you take on the PS3 without a USB. Something on the PS website or this website would be superb! ![]()

Oh, and I would like an accompanying Gustav Holst mod. Is anyone up for making one?

The kart could use a bit more color. The plain black background is a tad boring, you might even want to consider using some of the game's pre-made kart "skins" unless you really want to start decorating.
And I've been making the mod for a while, should be finished later today.

I was going for an 'outer space' effect. Any suggestions on how to improve it. Btw can't wait to see the mod!

Much kudos mini_s.
I hesitate to call myself an old fart (mostly because I'm not, not really. Well, a bit) but I never expected a gamer to have appreciation of classical music as opposed to heavy rock or mindless sampled dance rubbish - refreshing to know there's at least one of you!
And yes, the Planets Suite is one of the most outstanding sets of classical movements ever written. For those who shy away from such music I recommend you take a listen. You'll almost certainly instantly recognise the opening Mars piece, but the way Holst married the music to the 'Bringer of...' title for each piece is utterly convincing and at times genuinely moving.

Lol, a gamer and a teenager too! But I do love classical music, and I think a lot of people don't give it a fair go. Most of my friends automatically dislike classical music, but when I play them a bit of it they realise that it's not that bad.
I prosume you like classical music too?

I like music full stop, mini_s - 'hazard' of being a musician I suppose.
Must admit classical isn't my first choice but I do like to occasionally lose myself in Elgar, Holst and Strauss (never really been into opera though). At the same time, my band does covers of soul/disco/funk from the 60s to present day, while the absolute favourite song of both my daughter and me is Finger on the Trigger by NHOI (which gamers may recognise from the Burnout Paradise soundtrack) - and that's rock/punk style.

I presume this is why you're doing a musical themed track, then?

When I finish my GP entry I will start on my music themed track. But I mainly just made this because I wanted to race as Gustav Holst (Thanks again Kuni!) and I thought it would be fun to base my first kart around him.
