New Track: THUNDER CANYON

[ Edited ]

Name: Thunder Canyon
Creator: Tampa1020

Welcome racers to "Thunder Canyon" . . . the hippest and rock-roarin' place to light your tires and you'll soon find out why it's called Thunder Canyon as you race along this 00:01:20 average lap, although there are shortcuts here and there along the way! I'm sure some of you Elite racers can post a better time: my personal best was around 00:00:55.

You start off with some good old fashioned racing toward the open desert with some slow winding curves. Nothing fancy here, just good clean fun to start!

Be on the look-out for those short-cuts! It won't save you much time (unless you find the Sultan's Secret Passageway), but it may get you a small leap ahead.

On your way to the Palace, you'll find out quickly why this is called Thunder Canyon, so be on your guard and have fun drifting around those corners!

Soon you find yourself on the way to the Sultan's Palace (watch for that passageway and beware the Sultan's Sickle!) then back over the canyon and through the small town. It's on to the finish from there! It's not the most complex track, but do let me know what you think!

Re: New Track: THUNDER CANYON

Hello! I raced your track, and it was a fairly fun race. Some feedback:

The ramps on the track I didnt really like because they didnt serve much of a purpose, but they werent that bad of a drawback. This track had pretty good flow, and I traveled along smoothy. The shaking effect I did not like, I understand its for the thunder canyon concept, but if there was just a tiny bit less it'd be perefect. The rise in the track after the first thunder section (right pas the red boost pad) sometimes sent me flying into the wall and would be better flattened i think. The shortcuts that goes through the arch of the house firstly cuts off too much of the track and is too good of a shortcut, and then second, gave me an illegal shortcut reset. Maybe check the breadcrumbs. Also, arrows coming out of the shortcuts to point the right direction might help out. The shortcut under the canyon was really cool, however almost impossible to find. This was a fun track and just keep on creating! Hope that helps a little.

Re: New Track: THUNDER CANYON

Thanks for the feedback flathletics102! I adjusted the earthquake levels down to .5 on 2 of the 3 — maybe if I just get rid of one of them it'll play out smoother for everyone. I'll also check on the elevation of the track and tweak that a bit as well as the mechanics on the mega jump (honestly, I didn't think that one was that obvious). I'll also check on that pass shortcut. It has pretty wide breadcrumbs, but I may need to move them a little to get that 'illegal shortcut' to keep from popping up. And yeah, I didn't want to make the Sultan's Passageway too obvious for players — that's part of the fun!  I'll also add in some more directional arrows as those do help other players get familiar with the track. It too bugs me to no end when I find myself going the wrong way on someone else's track! Thanks again for the great input!

Re: New Track: THUNDER CANYON

Yeah man, I  agree,   I would get rid of  the  earthshakers.

I was going to use those in my track  "ANDORIAN AVALANCHE"  to  help  simulate  the avalanche, . . . . . .    but after  racing  it with them ( I  didn't  like it ).

I  took them out  and  it  is much more  enjoyable and  it  races a lot  better.
