Project: Timeship

[ Edited ]

        Project – Timeship

At some point in the 21st century, modkind, with the help of a vastly superior AI, finally discovers the means to travel through time. The only problem is the actual method is a little complex, involving building a huge timeship that has the ability to travel the speed of light in order to slingshot around the sun and break through a wormhole that has been discovered across the other side of our galaxy. Some of Modnations’ most esteemed track creators have been granted passage on the maiden voyage and each has chosen one particular period of Earth’s history (past or future) they wish to re-visit and have a quick race around in their custom karts!

Hold onto your space hats ladies and gentlemen, it’s going to be one heck of a ride!

Timeship: 4 Billion B.C. – OnePoppa

And so we start at the very origins of our planet, long before vast beasts ever roamed the lands. Here you will find smoking acid pools, burning lava, a trip down a magma tube between volcanoes and one lone tree. The track features several well-timed routes along the terrain that started it all. Can you spot the single tree?

Timeship: Ice Age – Biver_

Next we move forward to that most icy of time periods, the ice age. This is a complex dash through frozen tundra’s where higher ground yields bigger rewards and more opportunities for takedowns. At one point the time device begins to malfunction and you find yourself in a strange high-security facility where a change reaction of mayhem can make or break your race!

Timeship: Egypt 2750 B.C. – DW_Inc

The timeship stops off in a small corner of Ancient Egypt to pull the curtain back and reveal the shocking secret behind the true identity of the creators of the pyramids – Mummies! In typical DW fashion this is a fast flowing race that moves from the arid desert outskirts to the inside of a pyramid in the midst’s of construction!

Timeship: Fall Of Rome – atheistsw

Setting down in Rome moments before oblivion, it’s the calm before the storm as you speed through the ampitheatre and city streets before entering the largest Roman temple where the emperor is commanding his army to fight off the approaching barbarian invaders! Finally make your escape through the beautiful mediteranean gardens before heading up into the hills where you can watch the last days of the empire.

Timeship: Blkbeards Siege – its2l84that

Its2l84that wanted to drop in on his home of Charleston, SC, circa the early 1700s, into the lap of the legendary Pirate Blackbeard.  He has seized a weakness and blockaded the port, sinking the local fleet, but luckily for them we showed up, just in time! Our flight captain had some trouble landing and caused some massive damage to the castles northern walls.  Now race your way through all the damage and out onto the waters past the battling ships and up into the wake of our own ships destruction!

Timeship: Western – prob_alex

There was a time when stand-offs, gun slingers, train robbers and bank raids were common practice in even the smallest of towns. Yes, we've ended up back in the Old West to revisit this lawless period. Race through the farmland, mountains and rickety old mine shaft as you embark on an epic adventure... but don’t stay too long, as the timeship will soon be heading for the next timezone!

Timeship: After The Event – MrDufus

I'm sorry to report that MrDufus lost his track rendition during an anomalous episode in the operation of the sub-particle generator. Rest assured we'll bring it to you just as soon as we figure out how re-moleculise matter...

Timeship: 3000 A.D. – RADMANROB

The final chapter in devolution, a time when aliens have occupied our planet, a little reluctant to take over after the humans had so effectively demolished our once great civilization. Dubbed the “Alienassic” period by Rob, these otherworldly beings are friendly and have effectively utilised the parts left over by our species, expect a clean but unfamiliar landscape to unfold before your eyes!

Rob1.jpg

Rob2.jpg

Laidbackcat wanted to visit the famous D-Day landings at Normandy in 1944, but as is often the way with time-travel there was a problem and he managed to get himself temporarily stuck in time! We’re expecting him back very soon to re-tell of his adventures, so watch this space!

On behalf of myself, Biver_, DW_Inc, its2l84that, OnePoppa, prob_alex & RADMANROB (Aka RADBOYROB) as well as those who sadly couldn't be here today, we hope you enjoy our community offering, all comments and feedback are very much appreciated.

We'll see you on the track!

Re: Project: Timeship

Looks really cool! I wish I could be part of something this big... Great narration too ath, made me laugh a couple of times! :smileyvery-happy:

I wanted to do something like this with a Chrono Trigger theme (great game, if you haven't played it, look it up), as you travel though 5 different times... from 65 million BC to 2300 AD (when the world is ruins). I would have dreamed of it ending up like this, but no one except Myles G seemed to have ever played it lol! :smileyvery-happy: So, needless to say, it never happened. Maybe one day I'll have a go at it on my own, this has really inspired me! Thanks guys!

P.S. When will it be up?

Thanks, a lot of work went into making this project happen, special thanks has to go to OnePoppa for his brilliant organisation, great job marshalling the troops pop!

We're planning on releasing on Tuesday 24th January in a staggered fashion due to the time differences. This truly was an international project! :smileyvery-happy:

... visually stunning. If only I could have participated in such an event. Someone should really tell me when stuff like this happens.

There are some posts by praise93 that I also laughed really hard at, but you need to know the context to find them funny.

WOW... I really regret not knowing about this custom event. It was my chance to have a little fun. I wish someone would have told me about it...   :xCry:

Anyways, I would like to see these tracks released and "time-travel" by going in order chronologically!

You're missing a Medieval section. You could have let me do that!   :smileyvery-happy:

(Yes. I felt left out in a track-making event).

Re: Project: Timeship

Oh, wow!  These are amazing works of art, and deserve a special spot on the blog IMO.

Were the slanted stones on the Egyptian track done by using the angled props glitch?

I agree JNM, but Mark said there is very limited space for extras in the blog at the moment, plus the photo challenge and Grand Prix are going to be in the next 2 blogs. If there were 5 of these, They could go into top tracks... but alas there are 7. I highly doubt you could get a whole week of hot lap to yourselves, but, hey, maybe it's worth a try!

EDIT: 10 posts in about 1 1/2, this is the most active topic since... I have absolutely no idea when lol! And it's night in America too, plus very late in Europe. This is great!!! :smileyhappy:
