I still think there should be a qualifier. Not necessarily to determine who is in and out of the Grand Prix but maybe to match up people based on their lap times? You could have the top racers in one division and match up the rest in other divisions based on their lap times for better competition and more fun for everyone. I already posted a good amount of stuff on the other thread in General Discussion about qualifying, not sure why two threads were made, but yeah.
As global as the game is I can't see why there would be a problem in having a three team tourney consisting of Americas, Europe, and Asia. Now that I think about it though it could be rather complicated to make it work. Especially if people no show it and the teams get messed up with other balance issues. Think it could be a lot of fun though if it was done right.

TBH, I'm partially against UFG tracks...Most pros can do those blindfolded. Now, if we got the best creators to make some new F1 style tracks (I know that atheist intends to make one: I overheard him mentioning it in a gameroom) and publish them on the day: That way it's about being good at racing, not good at memorising!
Oh, and definately a qualifier...

Thank you ModNation ![]()
I do have a question though... will the Grand Prix only be open to forum members/ do you have to sign up here to participate ?
Don't shoot the messenger, but asking for qualifying times may be asking for too much from MNSD... I only held qualifying times to help legitimise my Grand Prix because I didn't have the official tournament credentials. Its a lot more time consuming than you may think :s
A more efficient way of qualifying would be randomly placing users in different tournament brackets consisting of 5-10 races (pure and action) with racers gaining points depending on their position. The top two or four users with the most points would then progress in a playoff style advancing to the next round(s)
Example:
- 50 people sign up
- 5 Qualifiers
- The top 2 or 4 races move on to the next round/ next day(s)
- Then its either the semi finals or the finals
- New Undisputed ModNation Champion
I also like the idea of using created and UFG tracks but I would suggest listing a bunch of tracks up front but only using some of them. That way no one user would have the upper hand and it brings some added excitement into the mix.
Anything can happen on the track... who's going to win the Official ModNation Grand Prix ?

Hmmm another idea for qualifying from me. Mark puts on hot lap, the selected UFG track for the qualifier, and perhaps could even have it up on Saturday and Sunday for flexiblity if people needed it. At Midnight EST, 9:00 PM PST, the qualifying would then end for the day and all Mark would have to do is fire up the ole computer and record the times of people that signed up. Shouldn't take more than an hour to record them, and he would have 3 hours before the times reset, to give folks as much time as possible to run it. Of course provided the hot lap issues are finally fixed for good by then lol. Most UFG tracks would be good, provided they aren't glitchable or have other gimmicks, or aren't too easy.

we are SO EXCITED about the championship. Everyones ideas are great thus far. i feel that all the UFG tracks are fair game. including the arctic, far east, and big city. everyone wanting to participate should be able to participate... EVERYONE... both pure and action i think should be used, with the opportunity to participate in both if chosen. once again we are ALL so EXCITED about the championship.
Thank You Modnation for the memories you have given kaity and I... LOL. Thanks Mark, this should be alot of fun.

I would say action races only. In pures the starting grid alone can decide a race because it's much more difficult to work your way up than to drive first, with open road ahead. Of course if there was a time trial to determine starting positions this would work, but I know it's not possible.
