I think this is definitely possible but I guess we'll see what Mark thinks. How does this sound?
1st Week
Hot Lap - Top 5 times in Final, rest of times in Top 50 are slotted into qualifying, 5 groups of 9 people each
2nd Week
Winners of each qualifying group advance to Final, the people who finish 2nd and 3rd in each group could be put into the final for the other ten, basically those who podium from these qualifying groups would advance to a final series
Final Week
Main final 10 and secondary final for the other 10
I have several ideas for the races like how many races and stuff. Just wondering how this structure sounds to people though first?
This is really a way to include more people. I do like the structure. 2nd and 3rd would make exactly 10 racers they even have a wildcard for an 11th. Mav u sure u've never done this before? ![]()

I touched on it in my essay posts, basically I was thinking a ps store voucher, it can be used on games, dlc or even the new modnation road trip! The problem with dlc is that i think most pros will already have most of the dlc.
My other idea was something like becoming a permanant hotlap judge, or getting other priviliges on this forum.
I like my first idea more, but Mark may not want to spend money, in which case the second idea would be better. It's all up to Mark though, and DLC is rather expensive...

I like the hot lap judge idea! That might be pretty cool!

Thats great for xp racers. a large percentage of modracers are casual racers who dont race the ufg tracks at all. there are racers with thousands of races on each ufg track, so i'm not sure how ufg only and pure race only would make anything fair

Not sure if you've read any of the previous posts but a majority of the qualifying and final races would be action and on some user made tracks as well. But as I said before using a UGC track for the Hot Lap portion wouldn't make much sense.
We definitely need a sign up sometime soon so we can have a better idea on how things are going to go down. Who knows how many people are going to sign up for this event.
Some of my posts for this Grand Prix probably make me seem OCDish but whatever lol. I just want to see a offical tourney finally happen, and I know I'm not alone, hoping we can finally get the tourney that wasn't meant to be in the summer.

...First post EVER:
I suggest that there be many categories, since there are many tiers on Modnation, and everyone deserves a chance.
I like the idea of placing classes of eight, but I think that there should be only six people per category, to prevent losing a race because of something as dumb as a collision, and make it moar manageable.
Also, I disapprove of pure races, since a skilled MINORITY races without items.
About sideswiping: I will never understand why people ban it, but I'm afraid that for this tournament, EVERYTHING must be allowed (NOHAXOFCOURSE) to cater to the MAJORITY.
Someone mentioned that time zones would be a problem. Well, that's not all. People have lives, so we might not get that many people to present themselves at the tournament. The ideal time of year would be SOON, as in X-mas break.
Unfortunately, if we can't get everyone to be present at their respective races, we're going to have to do a Hot Lap tournament, and you know the rest: Many will enter, [VERY] few will win
This means I hope Mark already has a kickass idea of how to organize this, since 2011 is almost over.
Is that a good 1st post?
