FINALLY... Team Track Challenge in Top Tracks!
Thanks to all that participated in the Team Track Challenge. Sorry for the delay with the presentation of the tracks / event. The PSN outage kind of threw the schedule off but it has been a priority to get this GREAT event publicised.
Hopefully the MNR blog on 8 8 11 will feature the story about the tracks and event. The 5 tracks will be featured in Top Tracks throughout the week.
Thank you all so much for your patience. Your hard work is about to pay off with well deserved recognition!
BTW... a new track challenge will be announced in the next few weeks I am REALLY excited to see what happens with this one. No hints yet!
Thanks x 10!

When we did this is was a random draw of teams which we think worked very well and will repeat this way again.

A few stories from the event...

I think from the challenge, I learned how three diverse creators can really come together to make something spectacular. I was skeptical at first, but I think the track ended up really well. We made three different areas- one for each creator- And I consider it to be one of the best tracks I've ever made... And I couldn't have done it without Ivo and Yika!

A very interesting part of this whole challenge was seeing the track come together in all the different versions created when you pass the track on to the next person. Starting with possible track layouts painted on the ground in the first 3 versions, to what scenery and terrain should go where in the next, the track and scenery being layed out one section at a time, and ending with the final tweaks here and there made by each group member. It was a lot of fun working with IvoYaridovich and VintageOctopus and I'm looking forward to the next event like this.

I was inspired by early pictures from the forthcoming "Dead Island" and wanted to create some sort of tropical and mountainous resort. After its2l84that laid out the track and the shortcuts and some basic foliage I set about doing the majority of the scenery placement, creating the main hotel complex and beachfront as well as the guest shack complex and the temple section within the large enclosed cave section. I wanted to completely close the top of that cave but pesky limitations with the props prevented that. In future I know if I want to create an enclosed section of the track I need to place the roof props first. I also added a few additional alternate routes including the route that cut along the marina by the hotel and jumped across to the lighthouse hairpin. Finally I added lots more foliage to really sell the idea of this exotic tropical jungle environment

When I was first signed up for the Team Track Challenge, I was immediately unnerved. Creating tracks has never proved to be successful. Not for a lack of creativity, but a lack of patience and skill. However, I was excited when prob_alex told me the concept he had come up with: a castle and its gardens. I was in charge of creating the track's layout and scenery. I placed all of the trees, flowers, bushes, chickens, and some rocks along the track to give it a forest/meadow vibe. I not only learned how timely creating a track can be, which makes me appreciate them all that much more, but I also learned techniques and skills about placing items and how to make things float. The experience was an opportunity for a cool combination of people to come together and make something awesome, and it was an honor to work with my team!
