You know I can understand hell - I myself was going to use it in the name of a kart - a bit pretentious but understandable...
Random grouping of letters that don't even form actual words/slang/curses is just frustrating... especially when you try to name a creation with the censor in mind - streering away from anything that may be censored just to have a random grouping of letters removed from your title - with no warning - after its too late and been published.
At least give me a heads up that your going to censor my creations title...

The irony is when people like me go and do things like publish and all-white kart named "Crakkker." Yes, you can go look it up to see that I'm not kidding. No, I'm not just trying to get xp. Yes, it's just supposed to be harmless humor. No, I'm not actually a racist (just a racer xD)!
There is rarely a case where a word within another word is actually a swear word. Words like Hell should only be censored if you're also going to censor Jesus and Heaven. Words from another language should only be censored regionally. This system needs a complete rewrite. Better yet--if it is actually something to do with SONY's meddling--this should be a setting on the PS3 itself. For instance, none of it should actually be censored in the publishing of it. However, in the viewing of this content on your PS3, depending on your set preference, parts would be censored. You could have a "None" setting where everything is exactly as it's intended, a "Moderate" setting where only separate words are censored, and a "Sheltered" setting where even words like Hell, words within other words, and popular 1337 versions of words are all censored. This could extend into other games too. For example, in Uncharted you could have the audio off but the subtitles on and censored if your PS3 is set to "Sheltered" censoring.

@jak - totally agree if you gonna censor my "Hell Tractor" you should also ban the "Jesus Wagon", Jesus Mod, Angel, etc... As it stands now the way they censor you could say they are being hypocrytical. Something is always going to offend someone and if they don't want to see it they can turn the game off... So some christians might be offended by the use of the word hell... I'm in the military and I'm offended by certian depictions of soldiers and military - and anti-war stuff but they dont censor that... but you know what I do... I get over it... I do believe the level of censorship should be under my control on my end... if they are worried about children that is their parents responsiblility... there are parental controls on the ps3 and the cesorship controls could be locked in there... Besides that there is a disclaimer on the game when you start it that they aren't responsible for anything you see or hear online... read it and let me say what I want so to speak... otherwise stop making me read and agree to the stupid thing... sorry started ranting... just kills me... I risk my life to be able to say what I want... but I cant...

So they have the PlayStation Home censoring! I bet a lot of people will have fun this holiday season like I did last year in Home, wishing everyone else a Merry ******mas.
actually home wouldn't just blank out the "bad" letters, but the whole word. You'd end up with "Merry *********"
