I sent this as a PM to cat, hoping to not spark this topic up, but alas it happened without me, so I'll post it here for you all to see:
Hey cat (and everyone else who is going to leave the game over ratings),
You can't just leave! You just can't let these people get to you. I love all of your tracks, you are one of the best creators in the game, the game really won't be the same without you... By quitting you let the downraters win, they think, "Ah, yes, that creator has left the game, my tracks will get more attention now!".
There is negitivity everywhere, the are people like that in every community, in the real world and in online communities. What you have to do is just play for fun, create for fun, be like bongsoldier. I don't know him too well but he's always doing things for the hell of it, with the inaproppriate mods and the jokes he cracks. He doesn't care what people think of his tracks, he just does it for fun. Remember, this is a GAME, it is designed to be fun.
Hey, in the end it's your decision, but think about it on both sides, don't be blinded by rage. You can take a break, but I'm sure you will struggle to never play again, ath and parise have both 'done this', they lasted for a few weeks lol! If you do decide to leave cat, I will truely miss you, I will miss racing with you in the evening (your morning), I'll miss the joy of seeing what crazy stuff you manage to make in tracks. You have been a great friend.
Look, maybe you guys just need to step back from this, ignore the boosters, ignore the ratings. Maybe take a break from creating but don't leave the game because of these boosters. On the other side (abc, pwner, etc,) maybe you should stop being so harsh. After putting so much effort into something and seeing it wasted, it really can effect you. The last thing this forum needs now is a huge, dividing argument.

That's from far the best sentence in the entire thread. (maybe the whole forum)
I don't care if people aren't downloading my tracks/mods/karts, I care that the people that I usually race with like them. I create my tracks to race with friends and if they have a good time racing, that's what matters to me.
This game is dying pretty fast and getting 200-300 downloads in a week is now part of the past, just get over it! (and don't quit the game because of such an useless reason)
