Re: How you discovered MNR

Back in late 2009, I was doing different things (can't really remember what). My dad got his PS3 on Christmas 2009, but a little more than a month after that, he passed away because of lung cancer, which still kind of saddens me.   :xCry:

I took a small trip to my home state of South Carolina one time (with me living in North Carolina now). I was traveling around in a Wal-Mart, going through the Entertainment section. Then that's where I saw a trailer for ModNation Racers on one of those TV's. I was thinking, "You know what? I may just get that game because dad never got to play that PS3 at all." I was telling everyone in my family who cared (hopefully). Mom and brother to name two people.

It was one of the biggest anticipations of my whole life back in May 2010. I didn't play the beta at all, but when this game was released on May 25th here, BAM! I got it!   :smileyvery-happy:

There you go! That's how I discovered MNR!   :smileyvery-happy:

Re: How you discovered MNR

MNR was not on my radar at all. I hadn't played the demo and don't remember ever seeing a commercial for it.

I was at Gamestop one day looking for an impulse buy.  I took a game home with and it was one of the worst games I have ever played.  Within the hour of the initial purchase I was back at GS returning it and checking the shelves to see if anything else caught my eye.  MNR did and I took it home.

The rest of the story is history.

Re: How you discovered MNR

Followed it from its conception... Wasn't in the beta though... I knew it'd be great. Ps3 needed a good kart racer and Sega & Sonic Allstars Racing got boring quick.. Got it release day w/ UFC2010...

Re: How you discovered MNR

A friend told me about this game and how he was pretty excited for it like a week before the game came out. I checked out the demo and was instantly hooked to it. Hadn't played a racing game in years before then and the last kart racers I played were Mario Kart 64 and Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 too. It was really refreshing to play a kart racer again and the customization aspect to boot really got me to jump onboard and grab the game day one.

Of course, the dude that told me about the game, never even got it in the end. Lol his loss, well after thousands of hours put into Modnation and meeting some awesome friends along the way, I'd say it was worth it!

An almost exact story to mine. A friend told me about this game, and considering i have only played Driving and Sport games, I had to check it out. I bought it, and the rest, they say is history.

My friend did also get it, but never got into it, and moved on. Got to thank him though, as the people I met and the pleasure i had would cease to occur, Although this game has casued me to almost permentally lose my account, but lets not get into that.

Re: How you discovered MNR

For years and years I was dead-tired of kart racing games. When Sega and Sonic All Stars was announced I decided to pick it up because I'm a huge Sonic and Sega nerd and I started to really get back into karting. I had seen internet stuff about MNR before but I didn't like the art style and was bored of kart games...But after S&SASR my interested was piqued and I decided to give it a shot, thinking maybe the art style would grow on me. Which it did. Best consumer-purchase decision of my life. : )

Re: How you discovered MNR

i worked all summer 2010, and during my lunch break i used to hang around in a video game store, and one day, i watched some video in that shop, 1 of them was about mnr.

Then i watched other vids on Youtube, read reviews about it, and finally bought it on the internet in september 2010.

And it's now the game i've been playin the most so far ( even more than Diablo II :3 )
