Oh dear, it looks like we have a phantom 1*-er in our midsts. Looking at the "top rated" creations 10 minutes ago on the offcial MNR site (click at the top of the page) I see just two tracks that have a 4.5 overall rating. Incredibly, 10 minutes later, those two tracks have dissapeared down to further pages, there are now NO 4.5* tracks left, those two tracks have been downrated without any further plays or downloads. 
Now, I see what is going on here. Boosters have worked out how to get their tracks downloaded. What they do is vote everything challenging them 1*. Then, they post up a series of POS auto-populated tracks, do quick "D4D 5* my crap" in the modspot et voila, their tracks are on page one, right at the top of top rated. The savvy amongst them have even realised taking an interesting thumbnail image, as opposed to to a default birds eye view, can help to garner more downloads from unsuspecting suckers.
I could name names of people I KNOW are doing this (hint, one of them had TWO karts on the podium recently, one of which was a 'glitch') but I simply implore the community as a whole to come together and stamp this blatant cheating out, all together. So, the solution is really rather simple. If you see tracks that are blatant D4D fodder (basically, anything with 5 or 4.5 overall that has had LESS than 4 plays) vote it 1*. Why? Because you have to have at least 5 ratings before the overall is calculated and if a track has less than 4 plays then it is almost guaranteed that those ratings are either via D4D ritual or multiple account creation. If you click the information of that particular track you can see how many votes it's gotten and very often it's in double figures, as these cheaters are somewhat smart and know that to prolong their high average they need lots of phantom 5*'s to off-set the obvious lower scores they'll eventually receive, thus meaning that they remain on top for just a little longer.
I got annoyed enough about the blatant cheating going on in the mod/kart side of things but now it's affecting tracks as well? Let's just say I'm mad, mad as hell!

I was going to post a rant about this, but you beat me to it ath. What a surprise. 
Anyway, I got up this morning, my track had no new races, but it managed to get 5 extra votes. It went from being first page of top rated ( with 13 votes) to being just a 4* with 18 votes. Other tracks with more ratings faired a little better. But what annoyed the hell out of me was that, other than UFG Skate by Punishthem, (which became 4.5* after the boosters came through, I hosted it last night, awesome track...) every damn track up there with 4.5* looks pretty terrible (except for maybe the one by crumble ball, still doesn't look 4.5* to me though).
So now road to ruin by briandalebaxley, 14 days in may. by Jefferzone are back on page 3 and 4 (on the computer, that's like pages 7 and 9 on PS3), not to mention so many others that were effected. And now boosted crap is getting heaps of downloads by the people who don't know better.
No Markxx, we're not just ignoring this. We want to spread hate against these boosters. These people are ruining the flow of the game and they deserve to be punished. If people know what is happening, we can combine and ban these people from the game (seeing as that's all the moderators seem to notice).
People have been sick and tired of boosting for a long time, it's getting worse, we are the only people who can do something about it. So spread the hate, spread the word that these people are cheating and ruining the game, and maybe we can get them banned.
Either that or this game becomes a boosting war. Doesn't sound like a great future for a game... Hmm, I declare a boosting war... has I nice ring to it...
