Excuse me if I posted this in the wrong area because, quite frankly, I have no idea where this would go.
There are many forms of boosting such as friend boosting and D4D boosting, but the one I believe effects this game the most is multi-account boosting.
Multi-account boosting is where the player makes multiple accounts on their PS3 with the sole intention of inflating their mod's / kart's downloads and ratings to get onto top mods / karts. This can augment friend boosting or D4D boosting by getting 20 different friends together with 20 different accounts the player can get a ridiculous amount of downloads to even surpass mods / karts that are already on tops and getting a massive amount of downloads.
I have seen this done with my own eyes, and even did it once to get 5000 more experience for level 29 and 10 more creation slots.
I hated how that worked. I hated how I could theoretically and illegitimately alter the high scores with enough accounts. This needs to be stopped and I think I know how.
All UFG needs to do is update the servers to read the player's router / modem IP address or console ID number and set up the servers to only allow one download and vote from the same router / modem IP address or console ID number to count.
With this in place it doesn't matter how many PS3s or accounts the player has as they will only have one vote.
Of course this does hurt households with more than one PS3 owned by different people, but I do believe the positives that would come from this would outweigh the negatives.

At the start of playing this game i thought making another account wouldn't make a difference due to IP, then i was wrong, kinda dissapointed. Well, your suggestion is likely reasonable but again, there are many things aside downloads that need a fix, i don't know, the game has been "left" for new stuff and patches or this is what i'm seeing aside fixing connection (because that doesn't provide downloading patches).
Well, let's see how it will go, can still think positive

What negatives. Just ignore the Top Mods / Karts OR Mark could fix it, like he did with TOTW, by making it a weekly thing. Nothing would be lost. The top tracks are organized, the mods and karts should be too.
Ignore the trophy ******, enjoy the game.
You could report them, since it seems robots take care of that. ![]()

It's not that I won't ignore them, it's that I can't. Boosters are everywhere now, and even some of my friends did it without my knowledge to me to 'help' me reach tops. Now they're doing it again with someone else.
Since I only produce mods / karts, I am effected by all of the boosting on a daily basis. I just want the leaderboards to be "best creator" and not "best booster".

To stand out, bother to post your stuff on the forums and on the Mod / Kart of the week thread. That stuff's legit.
Top mods are broken, UFG is gone since PSP version came out...
I repeat, post your stuff on the forums. That makes you look like a creator who gives a damn about making others happy with your probably fantastic stuff (never bothered to check your profile)
The best thing San Diego can do is follow Mm. Don't make a Create trophy in UGC oriented games. Trophies are the cause of H4H. Nothing else. Trophies are also the cause of D4D.
Even then, Mm put a 50 play trophy in LBP2 so now it's P4P.... Good job breaking it, hero.
WHICH is why UGC Games can't have trophies. Or shouldn't. Choose your words.

Great idea but I'm not sure everyone wants strangers to have access to their router details...
And families with more than one PS3 would get hit hard.
It's not a bad idea, but it has it's flaws.

Sony has all the personal information required to do this. They could limit one download per PSN/PS3/IP, what ever they choose. Other than a few XP points lost here and there, there really isn't a down side to this.
I really hope the play/create/share genre continues beyond LBP:K and the developers learn from the earlier games to create a tighter, cheater "free" system.

It's a great idea in principle and I'm all for it. However, those who wish to boost no matter what will find ways to hide/change their IP address to allow multiple user downloads anyway. ![]()
Then again, maybe that would be a little too technical for the braindead D4D/boosting crew? ![]()

Somehow this sounds half dramatic, should we call the Anonymous for these kind of jobs? :3Well i'm for it as well, sure D4D\Beggars will still circle around and getting more but at least not by multi account, no?
Then again i'm not sure how things are going in MNR PS3.
