Does Downloaded creations transfer from systgem to system, or are they lost forever?
Will backing up the save keep them?
And yes, its been asked before.

You're screwed.

Nope, it won't save them. We have two PS3s running and I use the plus online backup to transfer the games saved from one system to the others and for MNR it only saves your actual career progress and some settings.
This is a pain when I'm playing MNR on my wife's PS3 and I don't have access to the track list from my PS3. To make things worse, when someone host a track that you downloaded on a different system you won't even have the option to download the track again after the race. ![]()

Aww. On the plus, my creations will be wiped clean. On the minus, all my creations are gone, all my downloaded anime things gone. Damn, I may give up gaming with this
Also, with wiped creations, and not being able to download own things, I then won't be able to even race with my own mods? ![]()

Options:
Replacing the BluRay drive is cheaper then buying a whole new ps3 and is relatively easy. This would leave all your MNR data intact.
Your other option is to buy the digital MNR (yes give more $ for a game on it's last breaths) and continue on your broken ps.
Worse comes to worse and you buy a whole new PS3, you can download your published creations to the new ps3 and still race with them.
