Is it possible to mute all players on the PS3 version of ModNation Racers or do you have to mute them individually?

Go into options under extras n the modspot circle menu, go to sound options, there is a switch to turn the voice chat off.

I was wondering the same thing, seems stupid you can't mute people individually in a game room, it's a fundamental feature of online play for god sake!

they should also let you mute the players in-between races during XP Series Races

to mute them individually, go to the persons profile, go to the submit a repot button and it says 'mute this person' or something similar. problemo solved! (this works in race lobbies or anywhere you can view someone's profile)
