So I decided to make a track with my least-used theme, Jungle. I've used the trees and stuff loads but the actual base very little, so I was interested in seeing how I could use this theme to cover the major sections of the Hawaiian Islands, namely beach, jungle, mountains, volcano's and cities. Well, I'm happy to say that the experiment worked and the result is a lush, varied trek around a beautiful approximation of this dramatic and stunning land.
With the added "bonus" of Hydra Missiles... ![]()
You start in the city, with several tight U-turns to negotiate as you wind your way downwards towards the beach.
The beach splits 2 ways, left or right with boost pads one way and item pods the other. The split converges midway through where you can replenish your boost bar before trekking further into the jungle.
The dense jungle towers over your puny karts, but eagle eyed racers will spot a cunning shortcut through a hollowed out tree, cutting a tough hairpin at the expense of some item pods.
Jungle gives way to swamp as you make your way across this rickety bridge towards an erupting volcano ahead...
The lava continues to flow and the air support service has been called in to help, but they seem more concerned with holding up giant flaming hoops for you to jump through...
Upon landing you begin a steep ascent up the mountain. You see those barrels? They're out to get you, rolling violently down that mountainside possessed by the spirit of Donkey Kong himself! Watch out!
Once you reach the top you then begin to slowly ascend once more, but you also have a few choices to make; you can take this ramp and skip the hairpin, but it has a horrible habit of lowering itself when you least expect it. Get your timing wrong and you'll end up as bird food! You can forgoe this risk and take the hairpin as planned, allowing you to shoot the target to open the gates that gains entry to the parkway.
This gives you an entirely different route to conclude the lap with as you drop down into the park, wind your way down (mind those flames!) and come out just past the pesky rotating platform that makes up the final bend of the course.
The main route is a rapid descent down the hill and sideswipers can have evil fun by knocking rivals off into the deep ravine to the left of them. There you see that final corner, it's harder than it looks you know!
And there you have it, one lap of all the islands of Hawaii rolled into one intense race experience. ![]()
I hope you enjoy the track, comments and feedback are always welcome. ![]()
See you on the track!
