Welcome to the ModNation Racers Remix Challenge - a brand new event that gives you the chance to give well known tracks from around the world and from other games a bit of a makeover. ![]()
For this first challenge we're going to kick things off by asking you to remix High Speed Ring, which most of you will know as being one of the most iconic tracks from the Gran Turismo series. It's a very fast circuit with long, wide straights and easy corners, making it a perfect track for maxing out the top speed of your car.
It's a great circuit in Gran Turismo, but bring it into ModNation and it's probably the most boring track ever created. It's completely flat, hasn't got much in the way of interesting scenery, and it's not exactly the most exciting race you'll ever have. ![]()
So, your job is to improve it! I'm providing you all with my own basic recreation as a starting point, so all you need to do is search for the track 'RC01 - High Speed Ring' by Nuclearfish, download it, hop on over to the Track Studio and let your imagination run wild! ![]()
Maybe you just want to add some powerups, boost pads, obstacles, shortcuts, jumps and a bit more scenery to liven things up a bit, but you can also go as far as completely changing the theme and location or repaving/adding/removing whole sections of track. The only rule is that the overall track layout must still be vaguely recognisable as High Speed Ring when you're finished with it, but apart from that feel free to do whatever you like!
Tip: Remember that you can go into Track Management and reset props and the terrain if you want to get rid of what's already there and start from scratch.
You've got until Sunday 30th May to remix the track to your liking and get it published. You don't have to call the track High Speed Ring, but make sure you have 'RC01' in the track title so that we'll be able to find it! After the deadline the other MVPs and I will take a look at all your tracks and our 3 favourites will be featured on our upcoming YouTube channel for this event (similar to the Contraption Challenge videos).
Good luck, and have fun remixing! ![]()

Heh, I'm already done. I tried making it as varied as possible without breaking with the feel of High Speed Ring. I made a lot of elevation change, and added a lot of boost pads to really make it a High Speed track. Oh, and I also added a bit of scenery:
Actually, the scenery is probably what I used the most time on. The thermometer (or whatever it's called in MNR) is completely maxed out on this track.
Anyways, I recorded a race with my HD PVR, so that the Americans (and lazy europeans) also can see the track:
ModNation Racers Remix Challenge 01 - High Altitude Ring
As you might have guessed, I called it "RC01 - High Altitude Ring", hence the elevation changes...
