Considering purchasing Modnation Racers, just one thing I would like to know.

Is it possible for just me and a friend to race one another? No other players and no A.I controlled opponents.

Yes, you can have up to four players offline split screen (or two online splitscreen). Or if you friend is on his own PS3, you can set up a private lobby for the two of you. And in all races you can set if AI opponents are there, and how many.
