Re: Ad hoc party groups.

You wait until you unlock the higher rank stuff, some of it looks awesome. Guardian U and Guild guard are probably favourites, asthetically anyway. But stuff like male vespoid is hideous. ----------------------- And you can only solo the village quests, the last one for the cheif is, well, you'll find out...

It ain't really a spoiler, as this game really has none, but I'll hide it so that anyone that doesn't want to know what the last village cheifs quest is doesn't read it.  Highlight if you don't care:

It is certainly tricky, but I used a blangonga bow (probably only I, maybe II) and sleep bombed them. You just have to kill the first one before the second gets in. Once both of them are in the arena, you are in trouble, a LOT of trouble. But if you can kill the first, you can take your time with the second.

I don't know what you're talking about but I think I can hazard a guess and quite frankly, it's already making me want to cry...

Re: Ad hoc party groups.

To be honest it's best to learn how to dodge 'em, unless you've got superduper armour you'll be KO'd in one hit. Even if you do survive a hit, you've got to know when the right time to heal is.
I did the quest in Guardian U armour, which has like 30 defence a piece, I just tried it a good few times to learn their attack patterns. If you take the time to learn their attacks, you can do it relatively easily, you also need a rather large amount of luck.

Re: Ad hoc party groups.

Oh, Basarios? You need something with decent sharpeness, I'm not too sure how well a hammer would do. It might be alright because the charged attacks don't bounce. But I reccomend you use a bow or something though, pierce shots will rip right through him. You also don't have to worry about chashing him back and forth as he charges wildly about. You also don't have to worry about his gas attacks with a bow, as you shouldn't get close enough to get hit.
