What weapon do you guys think is your favourite choice to go hunting with?
Keeping in mind not all bosses are in favour for your choice of weaponry so you always need a good selection of weapons in your little treasure box ![]()
At the moment I just got to love the Gun Lance, being able to block and blast away your friends when their a nuisance to you is so fun
and also if your armour is totally rubbish for the higher up bosses where you don't think you belong at (especially when im playing with high ranked hunters
). The good old shield will help blocking those cold blooded fangs!
Of course i like the other weapons in stock!

I usually stick with the greatest of them all, the great sword. Yes, it can be a bit slow, but once you get used to this it is awesome. You get a nice infinate combo, high damage and you can block. And the charge, oh the charge, how wonderful it is. Nothing beats knocking a landing Rathalos out of the sky with a blow to the head, or stopping a charging Tigrex dead in it's tracks.
Hammers are also a good alternative for me, but they just don't have the awe factor the great sword has.
I do hate hunting horns though, can't get to grips with them. Although the Basoris (sp?) rock does look cool.

Hammer or long sword for me. The hammers triple pound is devastating and the fact you can KO monsters with it just makes the hammer even sweeter. Nothing is more satisfying than KOing a monster that has been really infuriating and then unleashing all your anger onto its head in the form of 2 triple pounds! Although the hammers charge is not as powerful as the great swords, you can move, unleash charged attack when you want (stamina restricted though) and if its not a good idea to attack, you can roll out and run.
Long swords are fast and nimble, they are long so you can easily reach weak spots and when the gauge is filled up you can execute a devastating combo (R, triangle, R, Triangle, R) and you even get an attack power boost. Like the great sword it has an infinite repeating combo (O, triangle, triangle, O ...). They also look cool and have a range of elemental weapons (devil slicer, wyvern blade fall/blood are a few essential long swords).

Depending on mood/victim I love using lance, longsword, sword and shield, bow (but not until the high-end ones) or bowgun (light or heavy with shield).
Not a fan of hammers, hunting horns or duals.
Gunlances are ok.

I use a mixture of weapons, mainly Heavy bowguns when going after Wyverns such as the Khezu and Yian *****-ku, for the desert Wyverns I tend to use dual swords, sword and sheild and occasionaly long swords. Though as someone mentioned earlier it depends on the situation, I think for the bigger monsters I'll use great swords, but if in a team then I'll be the gunner
However being a gunner can be expensive if you prefer to buy your ammo rather than combine. For me its all about the manouvability and evasiness you get when using the weapons. with bowguns and small swords your able to roll out of the way, pretty useful but with weapons such as the lance and gunlance you can only hop back which is really annoying if your up against something fast.
