HARDCORE - Are you :%!&%?! SERIOUS!!!

Wow, what a horrible game mode hardcore festival is! Complete 3 laps trying to beat an incredibly tight time with an entire pack of cars baying for your blood, where one crash or unfortunately clip of anything can result in you failing to beat the time necessary. I've just tried it out on the very first level, "Welcome To The Neighbourhood" and got clipped randomly TWICE by the cars crossing over at the intersection. :smileysad:

Evolution, if this is your idea of "classic Motorstorm" then you have failed miserably, this is nothing more than frustration central and I am not even prepared to endure the massive amount of unecessary stress this joke of a game mode will undoubtedly provide me with.

Think I'll stick to online racing for my continued MS kicks.

It's not for the faint-hearted, certainly, but if you're looking to push yourself to your limits then it absolutely delivers. It's why it's called "hardcore". :Winner:

Yeah, but if it was Hardcore then it should have been A RACE, as tough to beat the AI as previous MS games, NOT some trumped up time-trial with a bunch of vicious AI racers to ruin your perfect laps!

I agree. I refuse todo Hardcore modes.  I take a leaf out another game developers recent works, and their goal is to remove frustation from their new game. What ever happened to making challenges fun and enjoyable?

Any game that has a Hardcore mode for the most part is a lame excuse to save time and money in extending a game's play time. Once again it sounds like another game that will require some skill to conquer but more so pure luck to finish, as it would only take one small clip of an obstuction or another car or an unforseen bad landing and the race is lost and you have to redo it over and over and over ................ and Over I could type that forever toatatling the amoounts of times Ive hit retry over the years.

I'm just starting verteran in SP at the moment and Ive already missed a few golds in past races, I'll have a look at hardcore mode to see what its all about but I doubt I'll play it.

Maybe Sony can do a trophy survey, then they might realise only a few people have bothered to cause themselves ilness (future heart attacks or strokes) through stress and frustration. I cant be bothered to put myself through it anymore, when I have the stresses of real life to deal with.

see my previous post just above. You certainly will give people faint-hearts. Dont you know stress is one of the leading contributors to heart failure?

In nearly all industries if you caused someone an injury, ilness or fatality, the HSE would be all over you. I dont see any warnings in the manual or game case, to alert people to the dangers of stress caused by the game.

Re: HARDCORE - Are you :%!&%?! SERIOUS!!!

Its not a RACE; Its a three-lap time trial, the opponents are just added extras. And in all honesty, I don't know what you're whining about - I haven't exactly endulged myself in them as of yet, but i've beaten the first three hardcore events first-time. As long as you know the quickest routes you're fine.

Re: HARDCORE - Are you :%!&%?! SERIOUS!!!

I can't see the point in this whining either. If you're not good enough, then you're not. that's it.

they haven't tricked us in any way with the *emphasis on:* HARDCORE mode. It is designed to test your skill, avoid the opponents, and really, bad landings? come on.. if you play a little more you come to see the place and spots where you should really NOT land your vehicle.. if it spins when you land, then you have come to the jump too hard or too slow.. every damn track has a passable route on it, or routes, and ways to achieve those laps without having any "sudden can'tbeforeseen spins or crashes etc". It's just a matter of learning a little about the course, and the vehicle you're driving. There's different routes for a reason, you can't go hurling yourself 300mph/h with a supercar through a bumpy part expecting you will not have any difficulty. Or better yet, you can, but it's your own choice and the consequences of those actions are not evolutions fault =)

and imo it's not an extension to make the game last more hours for the gamers, damn, it's a nice add-on, and a learning "tool". And btw, they have never let us believe this game would last months in singleplayer! It's been about the multiplayer racing experience from the start. Or at least that's how it has felt to me and I have been waiting this game for a long time and following it's progression.

so, if you don't like it, don't play it. It's nothing out of your pocket if you don't.

Re: HARDCORE - Are you :%!&%?! SERIOUS!!!

@MarioKart2007

I appreciate the point that you're making, and what some players will find frustrating, others will relish as a challenge. How much you exert yourself in any challenging situation is entirely up to you. You are encouraged to take regular breaks, and you have every opportunity to 'enjoy the ride' with less intense events in Quick Play, or the earlier stages of Festival, or online in Wreckreation with friends, etc.

On the point about Trophies, there isn't a Trophy associated with Hardcore Festival, and in fact the Trophies in MotorStorm Apocalypse were designed to be attainable to a wider number of players; so while a skillful player will attain them more quickly, even the more relaxed player can earn 'The Big One' over time with a little effort.
