I hope it's ok to post this here. Not sure where else.
First, I totally love MA. Seriously, the best game I've ever played. It's a great stress releaver.
I should mention that I'm a Certified Computer Professional, so when I say that my home network and internet connect is solid, it is. I use a Cable based internet with 30\Mbs down and 2Mbs up. I constantly check it to make sure it's stable (it always is, so checking is just to be 100% sure).
That being said, the only major problem with MA is the CONSTANT server problems. Sometimes worse than others.
Right now (9Mar2012@ 8am), it's horrible. I get connected, finally... play a game... the game ends and just before points are calculated, PROBLEMS CONNECTING TO SERVER, CHECK YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION. Of course, even though I know my internet connection is just fine, I check it when this happens and sure enough, solid as a rock and fast!
I do realize that this is a very generic message from the server, that basically is saying, the server connection has been lost.
The problem is not on my end. In fact, when this happens, all the others are getting disconnected as well. If you reconnect fast enough, you get many of the same people back in the list.
I see others reporting this same problem over and over. And when preparing for a game, you can even hear some of the people with microphones mentioning the disconnects. Even when we see the all too common pause, just after you see the option to choose a track (the track selections don't appear), you can hear people say, OH NO... OH COME ON!!! and the like. LOL
Points are lost too.
I realize that there has been server maintenance back in March 2012, but these server problems need to be addressed and fixed, once and for all.
Again, this IS my fave game of all time. And as a person who spent the early part of his career as a programmer, I'm so impressed by what must have gone into this game to make it what it is. To code such a game with so many elements and keep it so tight, is nothing less than genius.
I always play in 3D, so I'm even more impressed at the work that has gone into it.
Anyway, sorry for the long blah blah... please PLEASE get these server problems sorted out..... sigh... if they can be that is.... because perhaps the main problems aren't the servers, but the paths (routes) from each player to whichever server they are attached too. I do realize that any problem between the 2 links will cause this problem.... it's such a hard thing to figure out without some major sniffing.

well that isn't exactly true.
i got the game before most would be able to get the game bacause of the Japanese catastrophy that happend at almost the same time. ofcourse there wasn't may online at that time but i had no disconnections what so ever... untill the game was re-realeased about 2-3 weeks later or was it a month? and people got the game. the servers just slowly went down. and well it has been the same since.
but you are right that not many have flawless online experiences anymore.
i also had this exact problem then i got a wired connection instead of a wireless connection and the game works "fine" for well for me i can play roughly 5-8 hours online before i have an online issue on my end.
i tested it once. but that was about a half year ago so things may have changed.

I completely agree! I love playing Motorstorm: Apocalypse and it very frustrating when I cannot connect for three days because it just keeps freezing or saying "connecting with server" but nothing ever happens. By the way, Blondboy47, I absolutely love your grammar and correct usage of the word "too." I am going to college for English grammar (going to be a book editor when I grow up) and I must say that seeing someone who knows how to write/speak correctly is a breath of fresh air (facebook and texting have absolutely ruined the English language). Anyway, it would be nice to see these problems fixed once and for all. With thousands of loyal and loving fans, you would think they would try harder to do something about this.

It seems to me the problems become huge on the weekends. I get the best performance playing late at night during the week. Searching all over Google it seems the folks that can solve this problem is probably not. Otherwise there would be a bonified reply and a fix. And the fix is probably a server that can handle a huge load because this game is still quite hot even after a few years of being here.
It amost makes me want to buy the original Motorstorm because that server is probably experiencing less traffic. And Apocolypse will probably fare better when you can buy it used for under 10 bucks.
My advice if you server people that read this is to double up the servers on the hot games until they become less hot.
And give us a reply every now and then.
