A real Racing Game coming?

I am raising this question, because i am getting worried about Vita's direction.

I ve always chose Sony over Nintento because i am a mature player and i prefer a more... realistic approach.

Racing games over a portable console, are great time waster and perfect match for its "portable" character.

Of course i enjoy engaging games like uncharted and Shinobido, which absorve you in their world and demand home console-like continuity

But on the go, its important to have a game, that can offer you its core gameplay in small bits.

Fifa fills that role atm, MK soon.

But those games demand a concentration level that is sime times not available in a road with a bus, or an airplane, boat, etc.

This is the reason that GT and TD unlimited made me spend most of my psp with them.

At my age (around 30) at this moment, i have no option for a realistic racing title, if not GT like, even NFS like.

The current options are meant for younger players, mostly cartoonish, no offense but at my age, i cant play a game like  Wipeout (riding spacecrafts) RC and modnations (Karts a la micro-machine or Mario/Crash Kart) Asfalt (rofl poor port from iphone) , F1 2011 (already last year and PSP era graphics) and the biggest dissapointment of them all, the ridge racer, an arcade game with non existant car-like vehicles, hovering around sideways.

I am not asking for a simulator, although Vita is not PSP and we cant now have a proper racing cars with physics.

I cant wait for a WRC, dirt, NFS port on Vita.

But come to think of it, this pattern of kiddie racing is not a coincidence. Most of them are made by Sony and most of the PSP racing games they allowed to become ports are also kiddie racers, like wipeout,  ridge racer, pixar cars and other cartoonish, cart like games.

They didnt bother with WRC, NFS, TDU, or GT, is this a coincidence that the same pattern applies again?

Do they consider the Vita owners a teen and pre-teen audience, exclusively??

Then why bother with MK and Unit 13?

Why the racing genre should be the only suffering from this pre-justice?

Looking months ahead, i see no intention for a realistic racing title coming to Vita.

Am i the only having this concern? And i am adressing this question to the older gamers in here.

My best bet would be EA's NFS shift 3, but rumors have it that it will skip Vita again...

I wonder how many months/years will pass at least we get such a game.

I believe that Vita is powerful enough for a light simulator like GT5, Grid, Forza 4,

the purpose of this thread is to let me now if there is interest for such games, or you guys will just settle, or even prefer the current crop of... (casual?) racing games...

Re: A real Racing Game coming?

I'm having the same thoughts as you. I'm 30 and bought a PS VIta on launch and have to say racing games are my favourite type of games.
I agree the current offering of racing games on the vita are not the best in terms of offering a decent semi realistic sim like racing game, infact they don't enen offer that good a street racing arcade experience. I hate wipeout as good as everyone says it is as its pure fantasy and kart racers don't entertain me too much so modnation is a no go. I bought F1 2011 and although it's good it is very last gen and psp esque. Ridge racer is nothing more than a glorified demo.
To be honest I'm very suprised EA didn't get NFS the run on vita but I have no doubt the next one will be on vita only problem it's usually a November release. as for dirt I don't know as codies are just finishing Dirt showdown but no sign of a vita release, maybe with the next full sequel but who knows.

WRC was announced last week an a vita version was mentioned. The licence is now with black bean studios and the dissapointing thing is the last 2 rally games from them were pretty avarage but with the lack of decent racing games it may well be worth a purchase. I have no doubt that Gran Turismo will arrive at some point in the vita's lifespan but if the PSP is anything to go by we are looking at a 5 year wait once we see the first video and announcent.
As for the rest I really couldn't tell you I see very little on the release schedules for the vita at this time but launch periods are usually a quite time once the initial wave of games has been released, take a look 12 months a go at the 3DS and how everyone was signing its death warrant due to lack of games and support but now 12 months later that is almost forgotten.

Personally although we are in the initial launch drought I think the racing (and other) games will come from all the well known developers but due to the strange launch period we will have to wait for the next iterations of the well known franchises we know and love to play as its too late now to start releasing iterations of games that were out last year for consoles as it just looks like a cheap cash in especially with the likes of NFS, just look at F1 2011 it's looked like a cash in from day one due to having 2011 on the title and being based on last years season even though the 2012 game won't be finished and released till september.

Well the next WRC is releasing in August/September for the PSvita. Sony will probably also show of a GT game for the psvita at E3.

I'm 36 and love MC RC, yes its not a sim but for a quick and challenging race or fast lap it's a pretty absorbing game.

I'm 35 and also love MS RC.

Tbh I don't want another racing game by Polyphony Digital that replicates GT5.

GT5 was boring as hell.... why the difficulty adjust feature that were present in GT5 prologue... didn't make it into the retail version of GT5.... is way beyond comprehension.

The damage was nonexistent... I shouldn't have to get to a certain level(Tsukba pit bug put a stop to that)... when I can go into my local car sales depot, get in a car and smash it into a wall without ever levelling up.

Polyphony you've lost the plot...

I am a hardcore race sim fanatic. Just wish SCI entertainment were still about.... Richard Burns' Rally for the PC with zero driver assists was the bees knees as were F1 Challenge by EA.

I haven't tried F12011 for vita but own the PS3 version and must admit .....is ten times better that GT5

Re: A real Racing Game coming?

Indeed F1 is the most realistic option atm, but the gameplay and the graphics are psp-ish and imho, unplayable at this age.
I bought F1 2011 for the PC, i wont buy it again for the Vita that i m still trying to learn the changes on the new 2012 season, that has started nearly a month ago...

RC is fun, but how much time one can invest on it? And why pay for a mobile like exp, when he can download a similar game for his phone, for 1.5$
IMO reckless racing 2 is at least as good, if not better...

Yes GT5 has a dissapointment, but having it on the go, would be a blast for me.
Heck even the PSP GT would do atm, we dont know in how many years Sony will decide to make another GT for theVita, if they ever will...

I just need smth to help me carry on, untill then. This is a perfect opportunity for EA to fill in, with an unperfect NFS game, or somebody else.
Yeah, i was hoping for a WRC too, but, there are absolutely zero reports for a Vita port, everybody seem to have skipped VITA for the sepwave of racing titles and this is what worries me the most.
Its April now, not January, what scares me the most is that i see no such intention for such a racing game on Vita.

Game devs might consider the Vita racing marked, saturated at, since we have RC, MOd nation, Asphalt, F1, ridge racer and wipeout. I m glad that despite all those options, i m not the only one feeling this way.

Again, my concern lies on the fact, that there are racers, but only meant for a more... cute... approach.
Even the available PSP ports, are again of the same category, its like Sony and game devs consider Vita as a kiddie device, i hope this will change not in a very distant future.

I for one wont invest on the current crop of racing games and i will just wait for someone to fulfill my needs.
Glad to know that i am not the only one having this concern, where ever there is need, someone will try to seel smth to satisfy it!

Re: A real Racing Game coming?

Thats the thing F1 2011 on the vita is not a sim. It's so dumbed down there is no way you can call it a realistic racing game and no where near what you would call a sim. The Ai is too slow and all follow a singular line with no regards for the player or even eachother and it all looks dull and bland. The controls are all messed up which makes it almost impossible to use the DRS and KERS effectively at the same time, saying that using them has little effect on your overall race/lap times.

WRC 3 will be on vita it's confirmed have a read here

Sure I agree there is a lack of decent racing games but saying that there is a lack of any releases but hopefully E3 will solve that. I can't see Sony leaving the PS Vita just just survive on the trickle of games that's already out there. Once developers get to grips on how easy it is to get ps3 games running on the vita (it's supposed to be pretty easy with very little optimisation) then hopefully we will start to get games just like we see on the ps3 so no cut down NFS or Dirt or F1 series game but something that is actually on par with the ps3 version.

Re: A real Racing Game coming?

I'm loving the look of WRC for October! Very excited about that.

I whole heartedly agree with this thread - I'm 25 so the 'young' racers are still a bit too young for me. I know this sounds lame, but if I'm playing sitting on the train on the way to work, I don't want the person sitting next to me think my mental age is lower than it already is if I was playing, for eg, ModRacers.

I have been playing F1 2011, and I was utterly disappointed at the gameplay after the intro video. Wipeout isnt too bad, but the lack of precision means you dont actually have to be good (that is, have skill) to complete it.

I would love a DiRT game as they are epic (particularly liked DiRT 2 with the driver interaction). Wouldn't say no to a Skate or similar snowboarding game either.

Re: A real Racing Game coming?

Motorstorm RC and Asphalt Injection are a good fill-in till we get something like WRC or GT5.
I didn't like Dirt or Grid much. rubbish controls.
Just hoping for a back to the roots CMR and NFS game.
