It is a tad shocking that they chose to port the 3DS version rather than PS3, but at the same time I'm not getting my nickers in a twist over it. The 3DS is capable of making some great looking games (I am very impressed with what they did with Dead or Alive: Dimensions). If it were a port of the original DS (which someone above miss-wrote) I'd have been concerned.
Also, if you have a ps3 (or presumably it's on 360?) why buy for Vita as well anyway? Maybe it's a better thing you've got a difference experience to the home consoles? Of course, that doesn't excuse the fact that the game could've done with some touching up. Just wait for the game to drop in price and buy it then.
You're missing the point. Sony harped on about Vita owners being able to play there favourite home console games (graphics, content, the whole shebang) but all on a console that fits in the palm of your hands.
Do we get the PS3/Xbox 360 version?? NO, we get a sub par 3DS port!
Now correct me if I'm wrong but the 3DS is NOT our favourite "Home Console"...
The devs have said and I quote "The PS Vita can't handle the open world, free roaming aspect of the game". Now this is utter BS. The Vita handles the open world of Gravity Rush just fine and even GTA Vice City Stories (among others) can be played on the PSP *****. Lazy devs plain and simple!!
Vita owners deserve better and not poor ports of 3DS games. The Vita could easily handle the full console version and everyone was under the impression that Sony was going to raise the bar in terms of handheld gaming and this involves putting home console (or as near can be) quality games in our hands just like they said they would do.
Lego Batman 2: DC Superheros on the 3DS is not "Home Console Quality" and so porting that version instead of the PS3 version is just one big slap in the face for all Vita owners whether people realise it or not.
"Also, if you have a ps3 (or presumably it's on 360?) why buy for Vita as well anyway? Maybe it's a better thing you've got a difference experience to the home consoles?"
What a ridiculous argument! Loads of Vita owners want to play on their shiny new powerhouse when their girlfriend/wife is watching the soaps on the main house TV and thus can't use their PS3/Xbox but they want to play the best possible version available to them. In short people DID NOT buy the Vita to play 3DS games. What's hard to understand about that??

Let's not forget that if it was the console version, crossplay gaming would be a very attractive proposition.... If Final Fantasy X can pull that off then owning both versions will be very much the go for me... As it is at this stage I will be going with Vita, as rpgs are great to kill time on while TV is on... Everybody's Golf has done the best job of that for me on the Vita to date..
Ah well.. on the Lego, here's hoping they can get it right with Lord of the Rings.. I haven't bought a Lego game since Batman 1 on the PSP, and I won't buy another one unless it can really rise above the crowd of Pirates and Wizards... Lego games have become the new COD or NFS....

I was going to get this on Vita but don't think i'll bother now. Does anyone know if the PS3 version supports remote play. I know the original Lego Batman did.

You didn't read it correctly... It's even worse than a 3DS port... It's a DS port!
This really killed my chances of getting the game. Still might on PS3 though.
Did you watch the video link or even read the article on that page I originally posted?? Here it is:
In this video, Greg Miller from IGN confirms that the Playstation Vita version of the highly anticipated version ofLego Batman 2: DC Superheroes does not carry free-roam and is infact a port of a the Nintendo 3DS version of the game. What does that mean? It means you do not have the open world, the cutscenes are compressed to be really bad quality for optimal game size as well as the sound and graphics quality too. This is a real bummer for you handheld gamers. However, if you have a Nintendo Wii I personally recommend getting it for the Wii as it is a port of the PS3 and Xbox versions and carries everything those two have. I may even review it.
But anyway this is not the point! Be it at DS port OR a 3DS port (of which it is) this is truly unacceptable!!

I agree that boycott is a bad idea and it was just anger talking and not my usual calm and considered self.
I too hope this sells by the truckload as again I agree with you and I can see this as only being good for the Vita. Sadly I don't think it will sell that well and if it was the same as it's bigger brother then it may have really flown off the shelves.
To summarise. My boycott comment was a little stupid and I hold my hands up to it but if one thing that really pees me off in this world and that is companies who think that consumers don't do their research and try and sell us sub par products!!
