PS Vita Games

I haven't been able to find a definitive answer to this anywhere.

If I purchase a physical copy of a game eg Marvel v Capcom on Vita, can I download it for free on my PS3, or does this only apply to games purchased on the PSN?

No.

CrossPlay download only works on certain Sony PSN download titles.

For other titles you need to have the PS3 version, if it supports crossplay.

Currently, only a few PSN titles support crossplay. The ones i can think of are:

Wipeout HD Fury (PS3) / Wipeout 2048 - If own HD Fury, apparently unlocks some of the content for 2048
Hustle Kings - own 1, get the other version free - some DLC is cross-play compatible too (Snooker pack)
Motorstorm RC - own 1, get the other version free - most DLC is cross-play compatible
TopDarts - own 1, get the other version free

The WipEout 2048 crossplay simply allows for Vita to play a few PS3 tracks and play PS3 users. Other than that, there's nothing else in it

Ah that's a bit pants. Not as good as it first looks then. I do have hustle kings and motorstorm RC though so might download them on my PS3

RC is worth a go, especially if you have a HD telly. Also, upon playing on PS3 it unlocks all the trophies you earned on the other version, effectively doubling the value of each trophy
