 According to people online, this is due to one of two things:

1) Sony has yet to release the firmware update for either the vita or the ps3 that allows remote play to function as intended

2) The games themselves need the developers to patch them and allow the game to be streamed to a vita via remote play

If #1 is the reason, then ok. As long as it isn't some fake promise like you made before PS3 came out about crossgame chat.

If #2 is the reason, well... then we most likely won't see our favorite PS3 games ever on our PS Vita.

number 2 is the reason. every game or application has a parm.sfo file. it contain information like game's title, software version, and if remote play compatible or not.

peoples were able to modify this param.sfo within their ps3... not officially

to make it an official thing someone, sony or either game developers, need to update their param.sfo

change a 0 to a 1, it will be something about 64kb or even less to download...

and then rmeote play will work...

EVERY game is already virtually 100% compatible with ps vita, it also has virtual R2 L2 R3 L3 buttons and sixaxis, psp was missing them... if you don't believe me search on youtube...

Yes SONY I am very dissapointed in how you keep your customers in the loop.  I am a heavy Sony supporter have been for awhile, love some of your products but love the PS3 and the PSN network.  However after being a pre ordering the Vita and finding out then that remote play was not functioning and not being able to find any official word from Sony advising of the situation.  Here are two links that clearly state that Vita will be remote play and Kill Zone 3 was one of the games,

I would like to add some info.

Most, if not all PixelJunk PS3 games works with Remote Play.

Every PS1 games (I have tested) works with Remote Play including big ones like Final Fantasy 7.

Vidzone works with Remote Play so you can stream millions of streaming videos.

The Killzone 3 demo was only a tech-demo to showcase that it could be done, if they wanted to implement that feature in the future.

thats such BS... all the adds for psvita.. have it playing ps3 games via RP out of your house anywere its the "gamechanger" pause your game on your ps3and take it on your way to work ect.. if it cant do that then isnt that false advertising i bought one 3days after it came out i find it an amazing peice of tech but if it could do that it would deffenitly be a "gamechanger"

I have seen on Youtube videos of some people playing ps3 games on their ps vita such as Dead Space 2, AC brotherhood, Mirror's Edge, Infamous 2 & other ps3 games, but a lot of people in the comment section are telling that those people are playing those games from a jailbroken ps3 system. I'm not sure if that is true because I have tried to play most of those games in my ps vita and it doesn't let me play them and my ps3 is not jailbroken. I'm not so sure if any of these is true but we ps vita owner's would like to play some of our favorite ps3 games on the go just like in the ps vita commercials. 

If some of you know how to play some of the ps3 games on the ps vita please tell.!

I would be happy if they allowed it as unsupported.

I can imagine fallout 3 and the like working but being unplayable due to unreadable small font in some texts.

Could be why they dont turn it on cause i am sure they could just get it working . its just a thin client connection to the vita. sending screen and sound over web and processing game on the ps3.

All games should work but if they allow it offically then people will moan that they cant read the text or certain games dont work due to missing buttons or small text.

I would like them to allow it and let me see what i can and cant play to a standard i am happy with.

I would like to play saints row, i may not be able to follow missions but i can go on killing rampages while i am work lol.

This something sony hope for not promised it is a tech show after all not a you going to get show.

Yes jail broken consoles can do it.

We don't know if these jail broken consoles will suffer any adversed problems to hardware/software (not worth the risk IMO)
