UC: GA Crushing

Hey... I'm about two thirds of the way through the Crushing difficultly and have come to a bit of a wall.

Its in Chapter 26 - just after Sully hurts his leg. I just can't seem to be able to defeat the waves of enemies that appear. I am armed with:

* Wes 44 - 10 rounds

* FAL - 128 rounds

* Nades - 4

If anyone can provide assistance I would be eternally grateful.

Re: UC: GA Crushing

Is it you or Sully who is dying? If it is Sully try and stay between him and the enemies (otherwise he seems to always be running about in front of you) - I found the wall furthest forward on the left the best place to be because he would usually then hide behind the one furthest back. I think with Sully dying it can sometimes be pure luck and chance - there are times I played that bit where Sully kept hidden most of the time, other times he would randomly stand still in full view and allow himself to get shot in the head again and again.

When I did it I stood at the bottom of the stairs for the first few enemies and picked them off as they came around the corner (I find getting headshots much easier using the motion controls) and inched round bit by bit so that I could pick off the ones further forward. Then I ran and grabbed the grenade launcher and squatted behind the front left wall to try and get the people clustered together as they dropped down, running to the back whenever a grenade got tossed at me (Sully seems to be able to withstand grenades though!) Keep a look out for the guy on top of the tower as he can do serious damage and he was the one who seemed to kill Sully the most when I did it, with the FAL you should be able to walk to the very back and shoot him through the gap in the bricks at the top of the stairs - although I didn't do this myself so I don't know if there is an invisible wall in the gap which might stop bullets (seems to be a few of them in this game)

This section is probably one of the trickiest in the game although it is that blasted running level which I think I have died the most on - still have to do that level on crushing, can't wait...!

Re: UC: GA Crushing

Thank you so much. I have only tried staying at the bottom of the stairs once or twice, but Sully did his 'Waddling Around in the Open trick'. I shall give a few more attempts.

I learnt about that enemy at the top of the tower to my peril on my Hard play through. Once I had him sorted I made it through. I honestly felt that this phase was the most difficult I encountered on the Hard difficulty.

------

The trick I found with the 'running level' (Chapter 11) was to dodge and weave instead of just running straight. I can't be certain that this was the key as opposed to blind luck, but I did it in about 5 attempts which was less than my result on Normal.

Re: UC: GA Crushing

Just an update for Pupnik - I just obtained the plat.

I actually just put the game away for a few days to give it a rest. When I went back in, I tried just staying at the bottom of the stairs but Sully was putting paid to any success that way.

I ended up just going to the wall you see on the right, taking out as many as possible with headshots until the enemy appears on top of the pillar. I followed that up with a grenade storm and picked the rest off with the FAL while they were confused.

It took a few goes, but I managed to get lucky in a game where Sully didn't move forward too soon.

Anyway - I thank you once again Pupnik!
