Well I disagree as I like to keep my gadgets kept up to date. Also there are some bug fixes in the update or Sony wouldn't have released it. Forced or unforced.

As said in my previous post - I tried to restore my Vita back to factory settings and it failed.

This screen pops up most times I turn the unit on now because I have the 'Blue Light Of Death'

Oh and to stop the argueing I actually WAS forced to update to 1.67 because it would NOT let me connect to my PS3 otherwise.

This has happened a lot in the past when it comes to using certain games and connectivity with particular gadgets so even though the Vita may not have forced it then another console will

So even though this website may state that 1.66 is the latest, my PS Vita said otherwise when I wanted to try and copy games downloaded on my PS3.

P.S. before anyone states the PS Vita is Wi-Fi and you can download straight to that, I was browsing the PSN Store on the PS3 so it was the easist way for me to download seen as I was using it anyway!

And maybe you should have mentioned the fact that you were forced to update in order to connect to the PS3. This is a fact you failed to include in your original post. People can't read minds. I've not heard of anyone else having to update to 1.67 in order to connect to the PS3. At the end of the day Sony has officially stated its not a mandatory update so why you were forced to I don't know. Maybe you're copying over something most other people are not. This is the first I've read about someone having to update to 1.67 and I've not read anyone else here or in other forums post the same thing.

Trying to connect to psn with my vita but it seems it will let me do squat unless I update it to 1.67. So much for it not being mandatory, unless I never go online with it.

I hadn't selected anything to download. It wouldn't let me select the transfer type on the Vita until I updated.

Plus I only update the firmware if I'm asked to. I wouldn't have checked to know if it was there otherwise.

seriously you cant blame the user if he/she updates to an official firmware.

DPD collected my PS Vita this week.  My new one arrives next week

Since this update, I've be unable to share my ID in Near. Tried turning it on & off..makes no difference. Anyone else had this?
